LEGO's toy manufacturing plant in Binh Duong commenced its groundbreaking ceremony in November 2022 at VSIP III Industrial Park, with a total investment of 1.36 billion USD. This marks LEGO Group's sixth factory globally and its second in Asia, playing a pivotal role in realizing the Group's long-term growth objectives by being closer to children and LEGO enthusiasts in the Asia-Pacific region. The initial phase is projected to have a production capacity of approximately 30,000 tons of products per year. Notably, with a land area of up to 44.79 hectares, the Company has significant potential for future operational expansion and production development.

The factory in Binh Duong is also the LEGO Group's most sustainable manufacturing facility to date. Mr. Niels B. Christiansen, Chief Executive Officer of the LEGO Group, shared: "Sustainable development is a central goal across every operation of the LEGO Viet Nam Factory. The factory will be powered by renewable energy. LEGO has signed an agreement with VSIP to build an energy center using Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) solutions, to harness energy from the solar panels on the center's roof. Combined with the rooftop solar panel system, 78% of the factory's annual energy needs will be met from renewable energy sources in the first five years of operation. The energy center is expected to be operational in the second half of 2026."
The LEGO factory in Binh Duong is the LEGO Group's first facility to have buildings certified LEED Platinum and to exclusively use paper packaging bags. The factory is also building a high-quality workforce in the region, with plans to recruit 4,000 employees in the coming years. In addition, LEGO will also partner with local authorities, community organizations, and charities to bring more learning and play opportunities to children in Vietnam.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Vo Van Minh - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized that with a smart and sustainable development strategy, coupled with the LEGO Group's well-structured, scientific, and advanced investment and business plan, he firmly believes that the production operations of the LEGO Factory at VSIP III will proceed smoothly, efficiently, and continuously develop.
The Binh Duong Provincial Government is committed to always accompanying and creating the best possible conditions for the Factory's production activities and the LEGO Group's business objectives in Viet Nam to achieve the best results. This will not only firmly establish the LEGO brand globally but also contribute to consolidating, strengthening, and deepening the already excellent strategic partnership between the Governments and peoples of Viet Nam and Denmark, particularly in the fields of science and technology, innovation, green development, and digital transformation.

On behalf of the Government, Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh stated that the inauguration ceremony of the LEGO factory is a wonderful moment not only for Binh Duong province but also for Viet Nam as a whole. He welcomed LEGO's commitments to sustainability, social responsibility, and community engagement in Binh Duong.
The Vietnamese Government is steadfast in its goal of rapid and sustainable economic development, coupled with environmental protection, prioritizing green and circular economy sectors. And LEGO serves as an ideal model for this development orientation. The presence of the LEGO factory also demonstrates Binh Duong province's attractiveness in attracting investment from major economic groups. The LEGO factory will be a new driving force promoting economic transformation from traditional industries to high-tech, green, and clean industries, building a sustainable economic ecosystem. At the national level, the LEGO factory will contribute to diversifying the supply chain, boosting exports, and enhancing Vietnam's position on the global economic map.
The Government is committed to continuing institutional reforms, investing in infrastructure, training human resources, ensuring a stable legal environment, and always accompanying the sustainable and long-term development of businesses.
Looking towards the future, the Deputy Prime Minister expressed his belief that the LEGO Viet Nam factory will not only be a leading manufacturing center in the region but also a hub for fostering innovation. He wished the LEGO Group increasingly strong development and the Vietnam-Denmark relationship ever-stronger bonds.
