Accelerating the Binh Duong provincial water environment improvement project

​PORTAL - On the morning of May 27, at the Binh Duong Provincial Administrative Center, Mr. Bui Minh Thanh – Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) – chaired a meeting with Ms. Hanna Pors – Deputy Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City.

​At the reception, Mr. Bui Minh Thanh - Vice Chairman of the PPC expressed gratitude to the Netherlands Development Cooperation Agency (now Invest International) for funding Binh Duong to build the Tan Hiep Clean Water Plant with a capacity of 30,000 m3/day and night under the ORET program in 2006.


Overview of the reception

In 2016, the ORIO program funded the construction of a wastewater collection and treatment system in the wastewater areas of Di An City, Thuan An City, and Tan Uyen City with a design capacity of 15,000 m3/day and a grant value of 12 million Euro.

To date, the wastewater treatment plant for the drainage and wastewater treatment project in Di An City, Thuan An City, and Tan Uyen City, completed in 2019 (Phase 1), has reached full capacity. It is necessary to expand the capacity by an additional 25,000 m3/day for Phase 2, with an estimated investment of about 65 million Euro from the DRIVE program.

Ms. Hanna Pors - Deputy Consul General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Ho Chi Minh City thanked the provincial leaders for their thoughtful and respectful reception of the delegation. She highly appreciated the achievements in the capital funding program for Binh Duong in the field of water cooperation and wastewater treatment over the past period.

The Government of the Netherlands will continue to prioritize funding for water-related projects, including Phase 2 of the drainage and wastewater treatment project in Di An City, Thuan An City, and Tan Uyen City. She expressed her desire for the provincial authorities and the Project Management Board to pay attention and promptly complete the necessary documents for submission to competent authorities, so that Dutch-funded projects in Binh Duong can be launched soon.

Vice Chairman of the PPC Bui Minh Thanh hoped to continue receiving attention and support from the Government of the Netherlands to complete the centralized wastewater treatment system, aiming to build and create green urban spaces and promote sustainable development.

The provincial authorities will accelerate progress and promptly complete related procedures so that once authorized by the Prime Minister, the PPC can sign the funding agreement for the project under the D2B program.
