At the meeting, both sides discussed the cooperative relationship between Binh Duong Province and Danish enterprises, particularly in the fields of investment, trade, and sustainable industrial development. A significant highlight of the cooperation between the two sides is the LEGO factory in Binh Duong, with a total investment of 1.3 billion USD, which is also LEGO's first carbon-neutral factory globally, marking an important step in the sustainable development strategy of both Viet Nam and Denmark.
Overview of the meeting
Informing the delegation, Mr. Nguyen Van Loi – Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee stated that Binh Duong currently ranks 2nd in the country in attracting foreign direct investment, with 4,430 projects from 65 countries and territories, totaling a registered capital of 42.5 billion US dollars. Denmark is currently the ninth largest investor in the province, with 15 projects totaling 1.56 billion USD, notably including projects by LEGO, Pandora, Ecco, and Scancom...
Currently, Binh Duong has 05 universities and 108 vocational education institutions to meet the human resource needs of businesses. At the same time, the province has planned suitable land funds to establish high-quality universities to serve the human resource training needs of the entire region. In the near future, the province will review the planning of 1,500 hectares of land to develop general education, universities... Binh Duong warmly welcomes Denmark to invest in education development according to international standards.
Provincial leader presents a souvenir to the delegation
The Secretary of the Provincial Party affirmed that the province will create all favorable conditions for Danish investors to expand their operations in the locality. At the same time, he expressed his desire to continue receiving attention from Danish businesses in the fields of high-tech industry, renewable energy, smart cities, human resource training, and sustainable development.
Ms. Louise Schack Elholm expressed her gratitude for the warm welcome of the provincial leaders to the delegation; and expressed her delight at witnessing the rapid progress of the LEGO project, affirming that this is a symbol of Denmark's green investment trend in Viet Nam. It is known that Crown Prince Frederik attended the groundbreaking ceremony of this project in November 2023, demonstrating the special attention of the Danish Government to bilateral economic cooperation.
