At the meeting, Provincial
Party Secretary Nguyen Van Loi briefly informed about the socio-economic
situation of Binh Duong. Accordingly, Binh Duong is located in the Southern Key
Economic Region, the industrial "capital" of the country, bordering
Ho Chi Minh City, with many arterial roads connecting directly to the economic
hub of the country. Accumulated as of June 30, 2024, the whole province has
4,319 investment projects from 65 countries and territories with a total
registered capital of 40,8 billion USD, of which Singaporean investors ranked
third with 309 project and total capital of 5,6 billion USD.
Overview of the meeting
Vivid and clear evidence of the good cooperative relationship between the two sides is the success of Viet Nam - Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP), developed by a joint venture between Becamex IDC Corp (Viet Nam) and Sembcorp Development Group (Singapore). After more than 28 years of formation and development, VSIP Group is currently participating in the development of 17 projects in 13 provinces and cities, becoming one of the leading industrial and urban park developers in Viet Nam.
Regarding development orientation in the coming time, the province prioritizes green industry development, building a "new generation" industrial ecosystem that creates high economic value, are less labor-intensive and limit impact on the environment.

Talking with Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Van Loi, Mr. Pang Te Cheng expressed his impression of the socio-economic development of Binh Duong, especially the continuous development of VSIPs, including great contributions and support from the provincial government. Mr. Pang Te Cheng emphasized that the VSIP model is a symbol of friendship and attachment in the economic development of Viet Nam and Singapore. It is also a model for Vietnamese localities to aim for. Mr. Pang Te Cheng hoped this model will be replicated throughout Viet Nam, contributing to strengthening the deep relationship between the two countries.
Mr. Pang Te Cheng said that in the coming time, Binh Duong and Singapore partners need to continue to promote exchange and cooperation in many fields including urban development, green economy, and attracting investment to support Binh Duong to develop into a modern, smart urban area, for the happiness of the people as the province's development goal.
