Phu Loi Prison is one of the 6 largest prisons in South Vietnam (Con Dao, Phu Quoc, Thu Duc, Chi Hoa, Tam Hiep and Phu Loi) built by the US puppet to serve the nation's policy of denouncing the communists and destroying the communists in order to pacify South Vietnam. Existing for a period of 7 years from mid-1957 to April 10, 1964, Phu Loi Prison really became a living hell for imprisoned patriots and revolutionary soldiers.

Phu Loi Prison first held more than 100 prisoners, at the end of 1957 increased to 3,000 prisoners, and by the end of 1958, the number of prisoners reached nearly 6,000 people. The prisoners were revolutionary soldiers from all over the country, who unfortunately fell into the hands of the enemy and were gathered here.

Phu Loi Prison carried out tricks of both terror and demagogy with all kinds of torture, cruel torture, even massacre with poison that took place in late November and early December 1958, etc. However, it still did not extinguish the revolutionary fire in the hearts of the Communists. The imprisoned revolutionary soldiers and patriots still retained their steadfastness and unyielding will to fight the enemy.
