Ministry of Foreign Affairs works with Binh Duong Province

​BEGIC - In the morning of June 23rd, at the Administrative Center of Binh Duong Province, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Delegation headed by Mr. Le Hoai Trung - Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the National Border Committee worked with Binh Duong Province on the situation of diplomatic activities in the province.The participants welcoming and working with the Delegation include Mr. Tran Van Nam - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thao - Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Tran Thanh Liem - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of departments and agencies. 

Overall picture of the working session

In order to exploit the potentials and advantages of the locality in the context of deeper and deeper international and regional economic integration, in the past years, the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee have always paid attention to directing functional departments and agencies to promote foreign economic activities, enhance trade promotion and investment cooperation. Starting from the perspective "Binh Duong always accompanies enterprises" to promptly remove difficulties and obstacles in production and business of foreign-invested enterprises, the provincial People's Committee has coordinated with the Consulates General of countries and foreign business associations to organize many dialogues and meetings with foreign invested enterprises. Dynamic and efficient external economic activities have contributed to attracting more and more foreign investment projects into Binh Duong. In 2019, the province attracted USD 3.4 billion from 252 new investment projects and 155 projects adding capital. Particularly in the first 6 months of 2020, despite the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 epidemic, the province has attracted USD 853 million from 59 new investment projects and 53 projects adding capital. Up to now, the whole province has 3,852 foreign investment projects with a total registered capital of nearly USD 35 billion from 65 countries and territories; in which Japan ranked first with 317 projects with a total investment of USD 5 billion and 642 million.

 Besides, the province is always proactively expanding friendly and cooperative relations with foreign localities. So far, Binh Duong has had friendly and cooperative relations with 10 foreign localities, including: Kratie Province (Cambodia), Champa Province (Laos), Deajeon City (South Korea), Guangzhou City (China), Emilia - Romagna Region (Italy), Yamaguchi Province (Japan), East Flanders Province (Belgium), Eindhoven, Emmen Cities (Netherlands) and Oryol Province (Russia). Binh Duong is currently an official member of the World Technopolis Association (WTA) and the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF). In 02 consecutive years 2018-2019, Binh Duong successfully hosted 4 major and important international conferences: World Technopolis Association (WTA) Summit 2018, Asian Business Cooperation Forum Horasis 2018, Consultation Conferenceon orientation to perfect institutions and policies on foreign investment 2019, and Asian Economic Cooperation Forum Horasis 2019.

Speaking at the working session, Deputy Minister Le Hoai Trung highly appreciated foreign affairs in Binh Duong Province, which contributed to promoting the country of Vietnam in general and Binh Duong Province in particular with foreign partners, enhancing opportunities for exchanges and connections, and contributing to promoting investment attraction and business cooperation. He hoped that in the coming time, the province would continue to enhance exchanges and close coordination with the Central Government in foreign affairs and wished Binh Duong more and more developed.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Van Nam said that the Covid-19 pandemic had a significant impact on the socio-economy, especially the province's foreign activities. From now to the end of the year, the province will overcome difficulties to fully implement foreign activities as planned. The Secretary thanked and wished to continue to receive the support of the Central Government for the province in foreign affairs to contribute to the development of Binh Duong to become a smart, dynamic and sustainable city.
