Outstanding results
In 2016, Binh Duong officially announced the Binh Duong Smart City Project. The project is a social-economic breakthrough program which gradually shifts the province's economy into high-tech services and builds Binh Duong to become a green, smart and modern city. The contents of the Smart City Project have basically been implemented synchronously and strongly in accordance with the model of Triple Helix (State, enterprises, schools), thereby helping the province to change quickly and achieve impressive achievements. After 02 years of the Project implementation, in 2018, Binh Duong was honored to become an official member of the World Technopolis Association (WTA) and the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF). In particular, for 02 consecutive years (2018-2019), Binh Duong has been honored by ICF as one of the localities and regions that have a typical Smart City development strategy of the world.

At the same time, 2019 is the second year Binh Duong continues to host and successfully organizes the Asian Economic Cooperation Forum (Horasis). Horasis 2019 strengthened Binh Duong's position in the international arena, contributed to expanding Binh Duong's international cooperation relationship in various fields, especially in investment and trade cooperation and active promotion of Binh Duong brand. Through the Horasis Forum 2019, Binh Duong has found important solutions of the era in order to reallocate development resources in a more efficient way, appropriately apply in the province's practice in the coming time; contribute to developing Binh Duong's economy more and more active and ready for international integration; and effectively serve the process of industrialization, modernization and realize the goal of developing Binh Duong to become a smart city.
Especially, in 2019, in Binh Duong New City, the World Trade Center Binh Duong New City project (WTC BDNC) has met the criteria for joining the World Trade Centers Association (including 330 members from 90 countries). This is a strategic turning point, creating a basis for a breakthrough in international service and trade of the province. The center is gradually being planned in the Smart City Project, which will strongly contribute to the branding and reputation of Binh Duong. WTC BDNC is a symbolic project, adding value to the region, becoming a center of global trade integration services, attracting partners, investors, intellectual human resources, creating conditions for the formation of an international trade ecosystem and connecting trade with the whole region. Since then, it has been associated with the development of science and technology zones, breakthroughs in new technologies, opening up many business opportunities for industries.
Model of World Trade Center Binh Duong New City (WTC BDNC)

We appreciate the province's efforts in the process of the development and construction of Smart City. The typical difference that few other cities achieve is the harmonious combination of private economic factors and the participation of the state economy.We recognize that only Binh Duong goes deep into the concept of Smart City, which not only focuses on science and technology elements but also brings about the core elements of humanity and the role of people. As a coordinating organization for cultural and educational activities worldwide, we look forward to supporting the connection of Binh Duong with other cities, creating a large network to connect localities in order to exchange and learn experiences about science and technology and humanities."
Development of a Smart City to meet industry 4.0
The formation of a smart and modern city, ensuring sustainability factors, bringing convenience and safety against risks of natural disasters and epidemics based on the application of key technologies of Industrial Revolution 4.0 is not only a trend but also an urgent requirement for the current urban areas.
Catching the above development trend, in 2020, Binh Duong determined to develop Smart City with the theme of "deploying the smart platform to break through to the new era 4.0"; further improve the Triple Helix cooperation model; actively participate, maximize opportunities for cooperation with international networks and organizations of smart cities and science - technology innovation cities in the world; deploy at least 03 specific projects, bringing different and direct effects to people and enterprises; apply more diverse methods to propagate, attract more active participation of the community and promote collective strength.
To accomplish this goal, Binh Duong will focus on implementing 12 key projects. Specifically, Binh Duong will conduct an experiment to register the Top 7 of ICF (one of the seven localities with the typical Smart City development strategy of 2021); focus on developing high quality human resources, creative environment, promoting science and technology, practical applications in all sectors and levels; promote innovation in the community, support start-ups, build a good business environment for new enterprises, expand the connection of existing enterprises. At the same time, the province gives priority to developing Science and Technology Industrial Park; building intelligent supply chain and logistics ecosystems; attracting enterprises and institutes at home and abroad, paying special attention to advanced information technology, communication and production, promoting the construction of ICT systems, etc. Continuing to deploy the database system, E-government, administrative reform and public services, especially in supporting people; gradually developing the Smart City Operation Center connected to a shared database system, starting with the Hotline 1022 system, which is the focal point to receive and promptly provide information to people through multiple channels and media.
Promoting innovation in the community and supporting startups
At the same time, actively communicating and promoting Smart City Project and specific projects; organizing big world-class events, prioritizing deployment into a series of Smart City events to coordinate many resources, bring great and practical meanings to Binh Duong in both brand and attracting investment, exchanging experience, technology and human resources; developing sustainable development programs (clean energy, environmental protection, waste treatment, information disclosure to the people ...), creating a good living environment for people, attracting experts to live and work, create a smart, green, clean and good Binh Duong brand.
When evaluating the 2020 Smart City development plan of Binh Duong, Mr. Fujiwara Yutaka - Deputy Director of Japan Department of Economic, Industrial and Commercial Cooperation said: "I am very impressed with the model of Binh Duong Smart City and what Binh Duong has achieved in the process of building Smart City". I appreciate the 12 key projects in 2020 that will be implemented by the province in the roadmap for building Binh Duong Smart City and I will present the province's breakthrough ideas to the Government of Japan".
Dr. Nguyen Viet Long - Deputy General Director of Becamex IDC, Director of the Binh Duong Smart City Office, said: "In order for the socio-economic development to be truly prosperous and sustainable, Binh Duong needs to drastically make further breakthroughs, especially in high-brain service, e-commerce services, as well as constantly support, promote financial and banking investment in the field of creative technology development. The increase in the proportion of services will have an impact, creating motivation for industrial development".
