BEGIC - On the morning of May 14, at the Provincial Administration Center, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thao - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee chaired the Conference of evaluating and proposing solutions to continue implementing the Action Program No. 33-CTr/TU dated December 15, 2016 of the Provincial Standing Committee on the development of Trade Union organization in the new situation.
Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Van Loc - Member of the Provincial Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Commission for Mass Mobilization, Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee; Mr. Dang Minh Hung - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.
According to the report, as of December 31, 2019, the whole province has 3,658 grassroots Trade Unions with over 785,401 union members/ 846,297 labor workers in units and enterprises with Trade Union organization, reaching nearly 93%. In which, there are 2,898 grassroots Trade Unions in enterprises, accounting for over 79% of the total number of grassroots unions in the whole province, while union members in the business sector account for nearly 95%. In recent years, Trade Unions at all levels in the province have always been innovating in terms of contents and modes of mobilization, synchronously deploying many solutions to develop union members, establishing grassroots Trade Unions to ensure completion and meeting the annual targets assigned by the General Confederation of Labor. The quality of operations of Trade Union organization has been gradually strengthened and improved, contributing to building a harmonious, stable and progressive labor relationship in the enterprise. However, the whole province still has 789 enterprises with 25 employees or more who have not established a grassroots Trade Union with 118,443 labor workers, of which 135 enterprises with 100 or more employees have not yet established Trade Union with 31,654 labor workers.
On that basis, the provincial Labor Confederation proposed solutions to establish the grassroots Trade Union in the future. That is, focusing on the effective implementation of the overall scheme "Renewing the organization, content and mode of Trade Union activities of Binh Duong province in the new situation"; vigorously reforming union members and the method of setting up the grassroots Trade Unions, diversifying labor approaches; improve the operation quality of grassroots Trade Unions at business sector and superior Trade Unions; focus on performing representative duties, protecting legal rights and benefits for employees.
At the conference, delegates focused on contributing ideas and solutions to develop Trade Union organization in enterprises such as: the Party's leadership role in the establishment of Trade Union organizations, the enhancement of legal inspection at enterprises; mobilizing resources to take care of laborers, professional agencies to support Trade Union organizations in mobilizing business owners to set up Trade Unions; Trade Union organization acts as a fulcrum for workers etc.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thao - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee emphasized, Trade Union organizations must focus on ideological education, raising political awareness for the workforce, contributing to maintain order security; building relationships based on harmonious interests between Trade Unions, businesses and workers. Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thao said, in the near future, the revised Labor Code takes effect in 2021, allowing the establishment of independent trade unions, which is not part of Viet Nam General Confederation of Labor, this will be a great challenge requiring trade unions at all levels to have clear policies and orientations, to build a nucleus in the movement and know how to breakthrough in difficulties.
