Binh Duong Province strengthens cooperation with Artemisa (Cuba) in the fields of healthcare and agriculture

PORTAL - On the morning of October 22nd, at the Administration Center of Binh Duong Province, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thao - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee chaired an online meeting with Mr. Ricardo Concepción Rodriguez - Governor of Artemisa Province (Cuba) to discuss cooperation in the fields of agriculture and healthcare.

In attendance were Ms. Ariadne Feo Labrda - The Consul General of Cuba at Ho Chi Minh City; Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha - Member of the Provincial Standing Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC), and the leaders of departments, branches, and businesses.

At the meeting, representatives from the two sides exchanged and studied cooperation opportunities in various fields. Binh Duong Province and Artemisa Province have many similarities. However, each locality also has its own potential and strengths, and can be able to support, and complement each other in various fields.

Binh Duong is an industrial province with strengths in the production and export of wood processing, wood furniture, textiles, footwear, and electronics. These industries are which Artemisa is interested in and wishes to promote investment connections. In addition, Artemisa wants to cooperate with Binh Duong in transferring technology in crop cultivation and livestock breeding, developing high-tech agriculture in Artemisa.\

Cuba has strengths and many achievements in the healthcare field. Binh Duong wishes to cooperate with Artemisa in public healthcare, medicine research and manufacturing, medical equipment production, training and fostering medical human resources, etc.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Ricardo Concepción Rodriguez - Governor of Artemisa Province said that Artemisa has signed cooperation agreements with Vietnamese partners to implement agricultural projects. Among them is a 2,000-hectare rice cultivation project in Cuba, aiming to develop 20,000 hectares of rice production in the future. Artemisa Province wishes to have the opportunity to cooperate with Binh Duong in agriculture to ensure self-sufficiency in food supply to serve the needs of the people. Artemisa Province will also send expert delegations to Binh Duong to study the province's healthcare development model, thereby providing suggestions and solutions for the development of Binh Duong's health sector.

On behalf of the provincial leaders, the Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hoang Thao expressed sympathy for the difficulties caused by the recent power outage and the damage caused by the recent great storm in Cuba. He hoped that Artemisa Province in particular and Cuba in general would soon overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.

He said that since the Provincial Master Plan for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050 had been approved, Binh Duong would have many new steps in the development of transport infrastructure, industrial infrastructure, and other fields. This is a favorable condition for Binh Duong and Artemisa to promote cooperation in various fields in the future, especially in the fields of agriculture and healthcare. He hoped that the two localities would maintain regular communication, and have more working sessions, visits, and surveys to share experiences. Thereby, they would effectively realize the signed contents, contributing to raising the development level of the two localities and bringing a better life to the people.

Mr. Ricardo Concepción Rodriguez - Governor of Artemisa Province provided more information that Cuba has now restored about 60% of its electricity capacity and is working hard to fully restore the power grid as soon as possible. He thanked Binh Duong Province for its financial and food support for Artemisa over the past time. Believing that the results of the exchange at the meeting would create a new foundation for the two localities to go deeper into cooperation in various fields, contributing to strengthening the relationship between Viet Nam and Cuba.
