ICF has researched and evaluated the profiles of 21 Intelligent Communities that have won the Smart 21 title in February 2023 to select 7 communities with the best development strategies, and honored during the ICF 2023 Top 7 Honors Conference held in Durham Region, Canada, with the theme "Better Together: Building a Strong region from Diverse Communities".
Binh Duong has implemented the ambitious Binh Duong Smart City project since 2016 and has always adhered to the concept of economic transformation towards innovation and digitization. Supported and inspired by ICF Intelligent Community of the Year (2011) - Brainport Eindhoven (Netherlands), efforts and support from Becamex IDC Corp, Binh Duong has begun an impressive journey of socio-economic development, thoroughly applying digital transformation and innovation in specific projects, in order to build and develop Binh Duong more and more "smarter", better and more livable. A digital and innovation ecosystem is being strongly developed in Binh Duong, such as Intelligent Operation Center, EIU Campus with Becamex Business Incubator, Fablab, Advanced Manufacturing Center; World Trade Center WTC, etc.; bringing better life to Binh Duong community. Moreover, Becamex IDC Corp and Binh Duong province have also been implementing strategic development programs, in line with more sustainable development goals such as promoting the use of clean energy and renewable energy; promoting the application of technology in production; developing industry 4.0, etc., creating a greener - cleaner living environment, thereby creating a premise for attracting technology enterprises, attracting high-quality human resources, getting ready to strongly spread the model of socio-economic construction and development of the province
In 2023, along with the constant transformation of the world, Binh Duong is also in the process of formulating and approving a new smart city development strategy, with development orientations in line with the new master plan of the whole province. With the right strategies and steady and firmly development steps of Binh Duong in the past time, Binh Duong was once again officially recognized by ICF as TOP 7 of 2023 along with cities of countries such as Canada, Brazil, Australia, etc. Binh Duong believed that this new strategy will promote the development of Binh Duong to a new height, bringing prosperity and well-being to Binh Duong people as well as economic success and international recognition.
ICF is a forum of more than 200 prosperous smart cities in the world; ICF collects information and data of specific projects in the process of building and developing Smart City of communities around the world; conducts research and evaluate hundreds of cities around the world to choose the Top 21 (Smart 21) of 2023 with a smart city development strategy, then select the Top 7 and finally evaluate the Top 1 Intelligent Community of the Year. ICF is based on a set of 6 indicators, including: Connectivity - Broadband, Knowledge Workforce, Innovation, Digital Equality, Advocacy and Sustainability. Unlike previous years, in 2023, ICF has renewed the Smart 21 and TOP 7 registration questionnaires, focusing deeply and strongly on strategic directions on sustainable development and focusing on innovation, with deeper and broader applications of technology - digital, in the spirit of taking the community as the center, taking smart connection as the development motto. With the Covid-19 pandemic under control globally, ICF will conduct an assessment of the TOP 7 communities by direct visits and interviews. TOP 1 Intelligent Community this year will be announced in October 2023 in New York, USA.
