PORTAL – On the morning of May 28, in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Customs Department cooperated with the Japanese Enterprises Association in Binh Duong to hold a Dialogue with Japanese businesses in 2024.

The Dialogue was attended by Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Deputy Director General of the Binh Duong Customs Department, representatives of the Japanese Enterprises Association in Binh Duong, and nearly 30 Japanese businesses operating in Binh Duong.

Overview of the Dialogue.

Speaking at the Dialogue, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Binh - Deputy Director General of the Binh Duong Customs Department said that currently, the Customs Department of Binh Duong province is processing procedures for about 300 Japanese businesses. Over the past few years, most of those Japanese investors have complied with the provisions of the law, well cooperated with the Customs authorities in the process of import and export procedures. They have also made important contributions to the Customs Department's task completion. Many of them have gradually developed and expanded their investment projects, actively contributing to the local economic development.

Mr. Nagato Takahito - Chairman of the Japanese Enterprises Association in Binh Duong said that in recent times, the Binh Duong Customs Department has promptly instructed and directed the businesses when there are changes in policies, laws, regulations on Customs procedures, etc. He believed that in the future, the relationship between the Binh Duong Customs Department and Japanese businesses would be increasingly developed so that Japanese businesses would feel secure in producing and doing business in Binh Duong.

Mr. Nagato Takahito - Chairman of the Japanese Enterprises Association in Binh Duong speaks at the Dialogue.

At the Dialogue, the Binh Duong Customs Department informed the businesses of regulations on customs declarants and declarations, some common errors in processing, export production, and export processing activities, and some existing problems. Typically, errors in declaration and settlement of norms with the Customs agency are not consistent with actual production, leading to differences in the amount of inventory, of raw materials and supplies used to produce exported products. This causes businesses to have tax arrears collected and fined for violations with a tax amount of up to 20% or from 1 to 3 times the amount of tax arrears, and a fine for late payment calculated from the date of customs clearance of the imported goods shipment.

On the other hand, businesses would face disadvantages in the process of carrying out customs procedures because if the level of compliance with customs laws is low, they will be subject to separation of declarations, physical inspection of goods, etc.
