Up to now, the province has gradually become a modern industrial production center as well as one of the few localities with many "billion-dollar" factories. The fact that LEGO group decided to invest in the most modern manufacturing plant worldwide with their first carbon neutral technology with a total investment of more than 1 billion dollars in Binh Duong province right at the time of Covid-19 epidemic, shows that the province is a bright spot on the industrial map of the region. This is the preferred choice of prestigious investors in the world in the peak of global challenges.

Along with the process of industrialization, the province has soon realized that the importance of urbanization as an important driving force of growth. It has implemented an appropriate urbanization strategy: building a new urban area, forming an Industry - Service - Urban Complex Zone, developing Smart City; step by step research and invest in the model of Industrial Park - Science - Technology Urban - Innovation Zone in order to create new development motivations for the province in both medium and long term. Binh Duong Smart Region has been honored twice consecutively by the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) as one of the seven regions (Top 7) with a typical smart city development strategy in the world.
As a province without an airport or a seaport, it does not have many advantages for development, but with constant efforts and determination, since 2017, Binh Duong has been recognized as the first province in the country without the poor according to central standards. The poverty rate according to provincial standards is less than 1%. In 2019, 100% of communes met new rural standards, completing the plan set out one year in advance. The urbanization rate increased sharply, reaching 82% by 2020, 2.5 times higher than the national average. The province's current economic structure in industry, agriculture and service is 66.5%, 2.5% and 22.8% respectively. According to the general assessment, Binh Duong is 10 years ahead in completing the development goals set out for the whole country by 2030 and is fully premised on becoming a modern, high-income developed province before 2045.
The current GRDP per capita is nearly 7,000 USD/person/year, listed in the group of three leading localities in the country. The size of the province's GRDP has increased by over 103 times for 25 years. The province is not only obtaining outstanding achievements in socio-economic development but also getting impressive the results in the fields of culture, human development, environmental protection, national defense and security, order and safety maintenance, building Party and political system over the past 25 years. Binh Duong's 2020 Human Development Index (HDI) was 0.736, listed among provinces with high HDI index in the country.

Binh Duong's goal is that by 2030, Binh Duong will become a smart city, a modern industrial center and a leading locality in innovation. By 2045, Binh Duong will be a smart city of the region and the whole country. Urban system of green, smart and sustainable growth; have appropriate, synchronous and modern technical and social infrastructure; have a clean environment and good quality of life; have the ability to withstand and adapt to climate change; has advanced urban architecture; plays an important role and position in the regional urban network, is highly competitive in the regional socio-economic development, making Binh Duong a smart city of the region and the whole country.

In 2023, Ben Cat and Tan Uyen towns will become cities under Binh Duong province. By 2025, the urbanization rate will be raised to 85%, and by 2030, it will reach over 85%. 100% of urban areas have urban general planning, zoning planning, renovation and embellishment program, urban development. By 2025, Thuan An, Di An, Ben Cat and Tan Uyen will be recognized as grade-two urbans under Binh Duong province and Dau Tieng town will meet the criteria of grade-four urban, and Thanh Tuyen, Long Hoa (Dau Tieng district), Lai Hung (Bau Bang district) will meet the criteria of grade-five urbans. At the same time, by 2030, Lai Uyen (Bau Bang district) Phuoc Vinh (Phu Giao district) and Tan Thanh (North district) Tan Uyen) was recognized as a grade-four urban and Minh Hoa commune (Dau Tieng district) was recognized as a grade-five urban.
In addition, Binh Duong also set the criteria for urban development associated with the construction of Binh Duong smart city, including: the rate of publicly provided information to the people with an information feedback mechanism reaches 70 %. The percentage of stations providing real-time traffic information reaches 50%. The percentage of population with electronic medical records reaches 50%. 100% of provincial and district health agencies allow registration of health examination and treatment through ICT app. 70% of public places are installed security monitoring systems. 100% of departments make a list of information resources and share them. By 2045, managing the urbanization process in a sustainable way, improve the quality of urban life, ensure social security and welfare, urban safety and order.
In order to develop urban areas in the orientation of smart and innovative, Binh Duong offers 6 solutions including: perfecting regulations and policies to facilitate the urbanization process, planning, construction management and sustainable urban development; improve the quality of urban planning to meet the requirements of construction and development management; building and developing sustainable and synchronous urban network system; to step up the development of housing, a synchronous, modern, interconnected urban infrastructure system and adapt to climate change; building and perfecting the urban government model; improve urban management efficiency, urban order and quality of urban life; economic development in urban areas, renovating mechanisms and investing in urban development. Cities play an active role in economic, cultural and social development, innovate in urban management, have a healthy, friendly living environment and have their own identity. By 2030, Binh Duong will become a smart city, a modern industrial center and a leading locality in innovation.
