Constantly improving the investment environment
At the beginning of the webinar, Mr. Nguyen Van Danh - Vice Chairman of the PPC gave preliminary information on the province's socio-economic situation and investment attraction. Accordingly, in 2021, despite facing many difficulties and challenges due to the Covid-19 situation, the province's Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in 2021 increased by 2.79%. Export turnover reached 32 billion 500 million USD; import turnover reached 25 billion 500 million USD; the province's trade surplus in 2021 reached 7 billion USD.
Accumulated to August 15, 2022, the province has attracted 4,063 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with a total registered capital of more than 39.6 billion USD, ranking second in the country in terms of FDI attraction, just behind Ho Chi Minh City. As for the investment situation of Taiwanese enterprises, up to now, Taiwan ranks first among 65 countries and territories having investment projects in Binh Duong province with 861 projects and a total investment capital of over 6,2 billion USD.

As one of the strongly developed industrial provinces of Vietnam, Binh Duong constantly improves the investment environment, enhances competitiveness and strengthens support for the development of investment enterprises in the province by completing the socio-economic infrastructure system. At the same time, provincial leaders and leaders of provincial departments and branches always create favorable conditions, promptly solve difficulties and problems as well as create favorable conditions for investors and enterprises to operate effectively in production and business.
Along with promoting socio-economic development, Binh Duong also actively expands bilateral and multilateral cooperation in many fields. Up to now, Binh Duong province has established bilateral cooperation relationships with 11 foreign provinces and cities and is an official member and reliable partner of 03 international organizations, including: Intelligent Community Forum (ICF), Asian Economic Cooperation Forum (Horasis) and World Trade Centers Association (WTCA). Over the years, Binh Duong has actively and proactively implemented the Smart City Project and has achieved some very encouraging results, Binh Duong is the first locality of Vietnam to officially become the members of the ICF. After four consecutive times in the Top 21 (Smart 21) and the first time in the Top 7 in 2021, Binh Duong continued to be recognized by ICF as one of the Top 7 communities with smart development strategies in the world in 2022, on par with smart cities in the world.
Becamex IDC Corp also introduced about the investment environment of Binh Duong and the projects being developed by Becamex to meet the investment needs of enterprises. Especially the orientation to build Binh Duong Smart City in the coming time. Recently, Becamex IDC Corp and the Viet Nam Trade Promotion Agency, the Ministry of Industry and Trade signed a memorandum of cooperation in the fields of trade promotion and investment and development of Industry and Trade in the coming time; at the same time, Binh Duong New City International Exhibition Center (WTC EXPO) was officially activated with a total area of up to 22,000m² specializing in providing conference services combined with resort tourism (MICE) in Binh Duong.
In the development strategy, Binh Duong and its companion, Becamex IDC Corp, continue to implement the Binh Duong Innovation Region Project with the planning of a Science and Technology Industrial Park, an innovative startup ecosystem, promote the proportion of services, especially giving priority to e-commerce and international trade with the typical project of World Trade Center Binh Duong New City aiming at the goal of balanced economic development. Building transport infrastructure connecting the region, a system of logistics, training high-quality labor resources and preferential investment policies of Vietnam. This is the driving force for Binh Duong province to attract foreign investors to the region, creating a remarkable development in investment attraction.

At the seminar, Mr. Han Quoc Dieu - Chairman of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City thanked Binh Duong province's leaders for creating opportunities for Taiwanese investors to learn and discuss directly about environmental issues, administrative procedures and investment conditions in Binh Duong. Mr. Hu Chien Wei - Vice Chairman of the Taiwanese Merchants Association in Binh Duong shared his experience in investment and operation of Taiwanese companies in Binh Duong over the past time.
Taiwanese enterprises discussed contents related to the results of constructing Binh Duong Smart City; benefits of the Free Trade Agreement FTA to Binh Duong's investment environment; situation of electricity supply, labor source, etc.
Overview of the Webinar
Answering enterprises' questions about human resource training, representatives of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Binh Duong currently has 08 universities and colleges, including training in precision mechanics. In the coming time, Binh Duong will deploy training of labor resources according to the needs of enterprises, especially training in the field of high technology, technology 4.0. Regarding the benefits of FTA for Binh Duong's investment environment, Ms. Phan Thi Khanh Duyen - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said that the FTA Agreement brings great benefits to Vietnam in general and Binh Duong province in particular, especially investors when investing in Vietnam. The provisions of the Agreement that Vietnam is applying will create extremely favorable conditions for enterprises when exporting and importing goods through countries and territories participating in the Agreement. As for the situation of electricity supply, the province is fully capable of supplying electricity for production and business of enterprises. "In order to provide enough electricity for production, business and people, especially electricity for the production of industrial parks, the electricity industry is drastically speeding up the progress of power grid construction projects in Binh Duong" - Ms. Duyen emphasized.

Concluding the Webinar, Mr. Nguyen Van Danh - Vice Chairman of the PPC welcomed Taiwanese investors to explore investment opportunities in Binh Duong, at the same time, he also called on Taiwanese investors to continue investing in areas that Binh Duong is very interested in such as high-tech, environment-friendly, less labor-intensive industries and fields, creating high added value; financial services, logistics; supporting industries, high-tech agriculture and especially attracting investment in the Science and Technology Industrial Park on the basis of industry 4.0 from developed countries, the world's leading potential partner with modern management level, including Taiwanese partners. He hoped that, in the coming time, Binh Duong will continue to receive active cooperation from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City and the Taiwan Merchants Association in Binh Duong.
