At the meeting, the two sides discussed the schedule of preparing to deploy the Project in Tan Uyen town, Thuan An city and Di An city at the end of June 2021.
After gathering comments from Ministries, branches, the Ministry of Planning and Investment had the appraisal report, on that basis, Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee submitted to the Prime Minister for approval the pre-feasibility report of the project. Up to now, the Project Management Board has completed the feasibility study report and sent it to the Department of Construction for pre-appraisal; at the same time, submitting the basic design to the Ministry of Construction and the environmental impact assessment report to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment for appraisal.

Speaking at the meeting, Ms. Carolyn Turk assessed that Binh Duong is one of the top competitive and investment attraction localities in Vietnam. She hoped that in the future, the WB will continue to contribute positively to the development of the province, improve the quality of people's lives and protect the environment.

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that with the rapid economic development and the pressure on population growth, Binh Duong is and will be facing a number of major challenges in infrastructure development, improving and ensuring people's lives, protecting the environment sustainably; in which, the province pays special attention to the field of urban wastewater collection and treatment. In the coming time, provincial leaders want the WB to continue to help and be a long-term partner of the province.

The Binh Duong water environment improvement project will invest
in the development of wastewater drainage infrastructure including:
Constructing a network of domestic sewage collection and pumping stations for Tan Uyen town, Thuan An city and Di An city to
increase coverage for about 54,000 households; constructing a wastewater
treatment plant with 1st stage capacity of 20,000 m³/day for Tan
Uyen town including the improvement to widen drainage capacity for the 1.3 km
downstream of Suoi Tre canal next to the wastewater treatment plant in Tan Uyen town to ensure receiving of treated
wastewater and drainage of rainwater for the existing basin; upgrading the
existing capacity of Thuan An city and Di An city’s wastewater treatment plants
with additional treatment capacity of 20,000 m³/day for Thuan An city and with
additional treatment capacity of 20,000 m³/day for Di An city.
The total investment of the project is 311.8 million USD, of which
the WB loan is 234.9 million USD, accounting for 75.34%, the budget capital of
Binh Duong province is 76.9 million USD, accounting for 24.66%.
