BEGIC - On the morning of July 30, in Thu Dau Mot City, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Binh Duong province held a meeting to exchange experiences of operating self-governance models in the community.
Attending were representatives of leaders of committees, agencies, unions and the Fatherland Front Committees of districts, towns and cities.
In the last years, implementing the Campaign "All people unite to build new-style rural areas and civilized urban areas", the Fatherland Front Committees at all levels and their member organizations have focused on guiding residential areas to build self-governance models with many solutions such as programs to coordinate and mobilize all people to participate in crimes, drugs, prostitution prevention and control, HIV/AIDS and social evils prevention and control; to ensure traffic safety and order; to protect the environment, etc. According to the survey, the province now has 733 different self-governance models, including 68 pilot models "Self-governance team for protecting environment" with 10,200 members; 174 self-governance teams for ensuring traffic order and safety, etc. In particular, in crimes and social evils prevention and control, the Fatherland Front presided over the construction of 10 models of "Fatherland Front participating in crime prevention and control", 09 models of "Fatherland Front participating in drugs prevention and control" and 16 models of "HIV/AIDS prevention and control in the community".
The self-governance models have contributed to promoting the spirit of solidarity in the community, contributing to the construction of new-style rural areas, maintaining political security, social order and safety, creating landscapes of civilized and clean environment.
At the conference, the delegates shared experiences of operating self-governance models in the community around self-governance issues of traffic safety, quarters without rubbish, propaganda and mobilizing people to implement the models, etc. The delegates also discussed the plan to further promote the self-governance role in the community.
