The second "Startup Idea Battle" contest - 2019 organized by Eastern International University in collaboration with Binh Duong Province Youth Union for all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 to 22 who are living, studying and working in Vietnam with a total prize value of up to VND 300 million. The competition consists of 03 rounds of competitions, revolving around community service ideas, sustainable development, breakthrough technology, smart cities and green initiatives in the fields of technology, education, health, environment, trade, services, public utilities etc. Round 1, took place on June 1st, 2019, round 2 took place on June 15th, 2019; the final round took place on June 22nd, 2019. The Organizing Committee's deadline for receiving the application documents is May 25th, 2019.

Speaking at the program, Ms. Tran Thi Diem Trinh - Deputy Secretary of Binh Duong Youth Union said the contest is part of the construction program of innovative start-up ecosystem in Binh Duong and Binh Duong smart city. This is a practical activity to promote creativity and entrepreneurship in all students; the opportunity to learn and experience with professionals to summarize business knowledge and experiences and realize ideas right from the school chair; at the same time contribute creative ideas to successfully build Binh Duong Smart City.
Training for start-up knowledge for contestants participating in the Contest
Right after the announcement of the Contest, the Organizing Committee introduced the Contest rules; contest provisions form and winning criteria of the Contest; at the same time, organized a training course on startup knowledge for contestants participating in the Contest with the topic "Definition and orientation about start-up. Identify business opportunities and find out customers problems".
According to statistics, there are
currently about 3,000 innovation start-up businesses, 40
start-up incubators and 40 venture capital funds operating in Vietnam. In 2018,
the startup ecosystem in Vietnam has recorded 92 investment deals into start-up
businesses with a total value of over USD $ 889 million, 3
times higher than 2017.
