Automation and energy – the driving force for smart manufacturing

​PORTAL - On the afternoon of June 20, at the Provincial Convention and Exhibition Center, the World Trade Center (WTC) of Binh Duong New City in collaboration with Coex organized the Conference on Automation and Energy - a driving force for smart manufacturing.​​
Attending were leaders of provincial departments and branches; associations, businesses and experts in the field of automation and energy.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Truong Thi - Deputy Director of the Industry and Trade Department said that over the past time, Binh Duong has been one of the localities with strong industrial development. To maintain the development momentum, Binh Duong has focused on promoting automation in manufacturing industries, thereby not only improving labor productivity but also minimizing production costs, creating favorable conditions for businesses to develop. Many businesses in Binh Duong have pioneered the application of modern automation technologies such as industrial robots, automatic control systems and smart production lines. This not only improves the competitiveness of businesses in the domestic and foreign markets, but also contributes to building Binh Duong into an advanced locality in technology and modern production.

In parallel with automation, efficient energy management and use is also an indispensable factor in the smart manufacturing transformation. With the growing renewable energy source, Binh Duong province has been encouraging businesses to invest in clean energy technologies, minimizing environmental impacts and ensuring sustainable development. Binh Duong develops green industrial parks with standards of environmental protection, and efficient use of resources and energy. In particular, Binh Duong Smart Zone was voted TOP1 by ICF in 2023 as a typical example, a bright spot in technology, smart management and a model for sustainable development. 


Overview of the conference

To support businesses in the process of promoting automation and efficient energy management towards smart production, Binh Duong province has been implementing many diverse policies. Specifically, creating favorable conditions for capital, infrastructure, human resource training and trade connections, especially through specialized fairs and exhibitions to help businesses easily access and apply the latest technologies. At the same time, promote cooperation programs with domestic and foreign partners to share experiences, transfer technology and expand markets.

At the conference, delegates listened to experts present the following presentations: South Korea's smart factory framework and electric energy development; promoting trade and Viet Nam's industrial and automation development strategy; developing industrial parks towards smart, sustainable policies and Net zero.

Discussing the issue of industrial park development, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Khanh - Vice Chairwoman of the Viet Nam Real Estate Association said that in Viet Nam, most factories are located in industrial zones. As of 2023, Viet Nam has 418 operating industrial zones with a total area of 129,900 hectares, distributed across the country, of which, Binh Duong currently has 29 industrial zones. Industrial zones are aiming for sustainable development, so they have smart overall designs; converting traditional energy to solar energy, green energy, clean energy; building technology systems and solutions to reduce emissions in industrial zones. Businesses also build intelligent management and operation systems by machines; training high-quality human resources to meet the trend of industrialization and modernization.

At the conference, Coex Vina Co., Ltd. signed a cooperation agreement with the Ho Chi Minh City Automation Association coordinating the implementation of activities to promote automation and energy in Vietnam.​
