Speaking at the seminar, PhD Doan Ngoc Xuan – Chairman of TDMU said that Binh Duong has economic growth in the group of leading provinces nationwide. This has created a great attraction for people from all parts of the country to live and work, leading to mechanical population growth, creating huge pressure on the province's social security system, including the health and education sectors.

Particularly for the field of health, the current public health training system of Binh Duong has only 01 medical college training college/intermediate level with about 600 graduates annually, but only 50% of graduates work in the province. In addition, the private school system has 04 medical training schools. To fill the human resources gap, the province has been using the form of "training according to the address used" at major medical and pharmaceutical universities throughout the country with a commitment to compulsory work in the province. However, Binh Duong's health sector assumed that the training had not met the needs of the health human resources of the province, especially high-quality human resources.
Facing that fact, TDMU has developed a strategic project to develop medical and pharmaceutical training to meet the demand for medical and people's health care human resources of Binh Duong province, more broadly the Southeast and Central Highlands provinces.

According to Assoc. Prof, PhD Nguyen Thanh Binh – Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of TDMU, the draft strategic project for the development of training in the medical and pharmaceutical sector to 2030 TDMU sets the target that by the end of 2027, the University is approved by the Ministry Education and Training and the Ministry of Health for at least 05 health sectors, reach at least 2,000 undergraduates.
In the term 2027-2030, developing from the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy under TDMU, expanding at least from 01 to 02 undergraduate training programs, and 01 to 02 graduate training programs.
The project aims to contribute to helping the province be proactive in health's human resources, enhancing access to high-quality health services for local people, and minimizing travel costs for medical examination and treatment. At the same time, it also contributes to promoting cooperation between Thu Dau Mot University and hospitals and medical facilities in the region.
