Accordingly, the Project of establishing Tan Uyen city in Binh Duong province on the basis of converting the current status of area, administrative boundaries and population of Tan Uyen town received high approval from the people, with 86,734 voters agreeing out of a total of 86,836 voters taking part in the polls, accounting for 99.88%.
Voters expressed that the establishment of Tan Uyen city is very meaningful and is a driving force for the overall development of Binh Duong province. The People's Committee of Tan Uyen town is requested to give a resolute and scientific direction to strive by 2025 to build Tan Uyen urban area into a grade II urban area.
The number of voters who disagreed with the Project was 102 people, accounting for 0.12% of the number of voters polled. Voters disagreed for the following reasons: After the establishment of Tan Uyen city in Binh Duong province, documents must be adjusted, affecting people's lives.
According to the Project, Tan Uyen town is located in the Southeast of Binh Duong province, adjacent to Bien Hoa city and Vinh Cuu district of Dong Nai province and with developing districts, towns and cities of Binh Duong province such as: the cities of Di An, Thuan An, Thu Dau Mot, Ben Cat town, Bac Tan Uyen district. With a special geographical position, Tan Uyen town becomes an important area of the province in terms of politics, military, economy and culture and society, very convenient in attracting investment in sectors such as industry, services, commerce, etc.
The establishment of Tan Uyen city is the basis for the town to continue to complete the general planning until 2040 as well as attract investment projects to expand the scale, improve urban quality and management efficiency. It is also a necessary condition to raise the urban class to meet grade II criteria before 2025 according to the Resolution of the 12th Party Congress of Tan Uyen town, 2020 - 2025 tenure.
Tan Uyen town achieved 5/5 criteria for establishing a provincial city according to the provisions of Resolution no. 1211/2016/UBTVQH13 on: Urban population size; natural area; number of affiliated administrative units; having been recognized as a grade I, grade II or grade III urban area; structure and level of socio-economic development.
