Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of provincial People's Committee affirmed: "The province's socio-economic picture in 2015 was very bright. Major achievements in 2015 were of great significance for the completion of the Resolution of the 9th provincial Party Congress, the Plan on five-year socio-economic development from 2011 to 2015 and created a premise for socio-economic development in the next period.
Over the past five years, the province put focus on maintaining economic growth with the average GDP up 13%. Economic structure was shifted in the right direction; the average GDP per capita reached VND73.1mln a year, beyond the set plan; export value grew by 19.5%; agricultural production continued reaching stability. Technical infrastructure received more modern investment. Socio-cultural field saw much progress with social welfare ensured, people's material and spiritual lives constantly improved. State budget for education was assured better with VND3trillion spent in 2015 or 23% of total spending. National defence-security were maintained, facilitating socio-economic development. Foreign relations saw positive development, contributing to improving Binh Duong's image and position in the eyes of the business community, friends at home and abroad.
-In 2015, the province attracted nearly US$3bln in FDI capital. In your opinion, is this optimistic result maintained in 2016?
Last year, Binh Duong absorbed US$2.94bln in FDI capital. The result shows that Binh Duong's investment climate continues being improved, creating attraction to investors. In 2016, the province will further realize in-depth development in investment attraction, concentrate on calling for hi-tech projects; restrict projects outside industrial parks, compounds while being determined to refuse projects that are likely to cause environmental pollution…towards sustainable development.
Based on the above orientations, domestic economic performance and the world's economic recovery as well, in 2016, Binh Duong has set a target of attracting US$1.4bln in FDI capital. The province will make efforts to reach and exceed the set target.

Binh Duong is setting up the Program on Urban Development in the 2016-2020 period. Upon this, the province has put forward some measures to soon gain a goal of "Developing Binh Duong into a centrally-controlled municipality by 2020".
Provincial People's Committee will bend on taking 6 key measures, including diversifying and effectively using sources for urban development; mobilizing capital from economic sectors for urban development…, to realize a goal of developing Binh Duong into a centrally-controlled municipality by 2020. The province will also boost international and regional cooperation in urban development; improve the effectiveness of the urban management apparatus; strengthen human resource training in line with urban development. More importantly, the province will effectively implement sci-tech application in green urban and clean industrial construction, promote scientific research in urban development; uphold the role of the community in urban development, create favorable conditions for locals and enterprises to take part in urban development projects approved.
Over the past time, Binh Duong excelled at urban planning and construction, technical infrastructure development, contributing to improving the local urban image. The province's urban development program between 2016 and 2020 promises a new prosperity for the local urban image. 2016 is the first year Binh Duong realizes the Resolution of the 10th provincial Party Congress and the Resolution of the 12th national Party Congress. In the current situation, the successful implementation of provincial targets on socio-economic development bears a significant meaning, creating a firm premise for the province to well realize the Plan on socio-economic development in the 2016-2020 period.
Binh Duong will concentrate on major tasks as follows: putting focus on effectively realizing the Resolution of the 10th provincial Party Congress and the Resolution of the 12th national Party Congress; taking measures on economic development in a synchronous way; further enhancing the effectiveness of State management in the urban, industrial, agriculture-rural development, natural resources-environment fields; concentrating on improving people's material and spiritual lives, strengthening national defence-security and effectively dealing with social problems; well realizing administrative reform and effectively settling complaints.
