Peter Portheine, Director of Brain Port Group said that the objectives of the Project are to implement the model of Triple Helix with academia-industry and government relationship through setting up research centers, corporate nurseries; linking research institutes, universities in Holland and around the world to strengthen competitiveness of the local supply chain; map out concrete strategies, plans for socio-economic development towards a smart city. The Project will also put forward criteria that Binh Duong needs to realize in order to become a smart city.

On the basis of Binh Duong’s development orientations and 4 breakthrough programs, cooperation agreements between the province and Eindhoven, Becamex IDC and Braintport Group, the Project puts forward a strategic model with concrete action programs for socio-economic development towards smart city development in association with developing the province into a centrally-controlled city by 2020. It includes 14 criteria on applying the Triple Helix model in public and private cooperation, supporting schools at international standards, bringing real skills to education programs at all levels, carrying out a survey on labor market’s demand; bracing up private and State organizations to make investment in research activities for development; perfecting “Living Laps”; promoting FDI projects; encouraging newly-established businesses and those with production expansion; strengthening trademark development; constructing good infrastructure for national and international connectivity; creating an attractive living environment and mobilizing resources for investment projects.

Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee contributing ideas to the Project With such consistent strategy, if realizing concrete actions put forward in the Project in turn, Binh Duong is absolutely able to obtain further socio-economic development at locals and businesses’ needs towards hi-tech services and industries, gradually becoming a city worth living in for a long target of being “Binh Duong smart economic zone: Pride of Vietnam, global famousness”.
Concluding the meeting, Mr.Liem spoke highly of cooperation between Becamex IDC and Braint Port Group in setting up the Project while emphasizing that all action programs of the Project need to be in line with the ones of provincial Party Committee. He also required relevant agencies to further contribute ideas to the Project and they will be collected by Becamex to perfect the Project and submit it to provincial People’s Committee for approval.
