The sports festival took place in Binh Duong from April 12 to 22, absorbing more than 2,500 athletes from 13 provinces and cities in the south central, central highlands and southeastern regions. As a result, HCM city topped the sports festival with 2,340 scores. Binh Duong ranked second with 1,523 scores. Dong Nai and Tay Ninh tied for the third place with 1,523 and 638 scores, respectively.

On the medal rankings, HCM city also ranked first with 126 gold, 62 silver and 22 bronze medals. It was followed by Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Dong Nai, Binh Thuan, Dak Lak, Tay Ninh, Lam Dong, Ninh Thuan, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Gia Lai, Kon Tum and Dak Nong.
Outstanding athletes will be sorted out to attend the 9th National Phu Dong Sport Festival to be held in Thanh Hoa and Nghe provinces in July and August ahead.
