Authorities of related departments and Thu Dau Mot City People’s Committee as well as leaders of Becamex IDC and Becamex - Tokyu also presented at the session.
The aim of the project is to limit the use of private transports and encourage locals to switch over public ones, shaping a safer traffic model and reducing pollution. The project, moreover, also ameliorate bus drivers and bus attendants’ attitude towards bus riders as well as apply modern techniques in bus managements such as magnetic card system and bus routes management.
Model of the bus
JICA and Japan’s Tokyu Group will take charge of technical assistance for the transport network. Plus the agency will provide low-interest loans or non-refundable aid for technical assistance. In the near future, Binh Duong will launch an eco-friendly bus route linking Thu Dau Mot city and Binh Duong new city. A bus route passing through Binh Duong new city center and a bus rapid transit line connecting My Phuoc and Tan Van will be launched later.
At the working session, two parties discussed related issues on Technical Assistance Project in the establishment of Joint Coordination Committee (JCC), project team establishment (project management, head of JICA experts) and the project’s target area determination. The full draft Technical Assistance Project is expected to be approved and the Memorandum of Understanding between Binh Duong and JICA progresses to be signed on March 20, 2014.

On behalf of the province’s authorities, Vice Chairman Tran Thanh Liem generally consented to the contents of the Technical Assistance Project developed by JICA. The Department of Transport, the Department of Planning and Investment, the Department of Finance will be assigned to implement stages of the project in which the Department of Transport will be primarily responsible for. Mr Liem requested relevant departments to report their difficulties and together work towards solutions.
