PORTAL - On the afternoon of January 17, in Thu Dau Mot City, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs held a conference to summarize the work of laborers, people with meritorious services and society in 2023, and implement key tasks in 2024.

In 2023, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has drastically implemented activities to create jobs, provide vocational training, sustainably reduce poverty, ensure social security, and well implement the gratitude policy, taking care of social protection subjects, protecting and taking care of children, preventing and combating drugs and prostitution, contributing to ensuring social order and safety.

Although there are still many difficulties, many targets of the industry have been completed according to the set plan. Specifically, the rate of trained workers reached 83%; the rate of workers with degrees and certificates reached 33%; the rate of poor households according to the new multidimensional poverty standard is only 1.28%; some indicators of children with special circumstances receiving assistance and care achieved perfect scores.

The payment of regular non-cash benefits to people with meritorious services and social protection subjects reached a rate of 71%, considered the highest in the country.

In addition, the industry has applied many measures to remove difficulties and obstacles in the process of implementing regulations on foreign labor and receiving the handover of foreign labor management from the Provincial industrial zones authority according to Decree No. 70/2023/ND-CP of the Government.

However, the production and business activities of the enterprises encountered difficulties such as orders being reduced leading to increased job loss, work stoppages, and layoffs, so the estimated new job creation target was not met compared to the proposed plan. Moreover, personnel performing Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs work at district and commune levels are few, they take on many jobs and are frequently changed so they do not promptly grasp professional work, leading to ineffective implementation of many local policies, etc.
