Provincial leaders received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland

PORTAL - On the morning of January 10, at the Administration Center of Binh Duong province, Mr. Mai Hung Dung - Member of the Provincial Standing Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) received H.E. Keijo Norvanto - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Finland to Viet Nam visiting Binh Duong.

​At the meeting, the Permanent Vice Chairman of the PPC Mai Hung Dung informed H.E. Keijo Norvanto of outstanding results in socio-economic development in 2023.

The Permanent Vice Chairman of the PPC said that in the past time, the Finnish Government has sponsored Binh Duong Province to develop infrastructure through the program to build the South Binh Duong Solid Waste Treatment Plant and the South Binh Duong Solid Waste Treatment Plant Phase II. Currently, Binh Duong province has been proposing the Ben Cat Town Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Project to participate in the Public Investment Fund (PIF) - Finland.

 

Overview of the meeting

Mr. Mai Hung Dung thanked the Ambassador for his affection for Binh Duong in the past time. He hoped that His Excellency would continue to support Binh Duong in implementing infrastructure improvement projects using ODA capital from the Finnish Government, and support inviting potential Finnish investors to invest in Binh Duong province.

At the same time, he hoped the Finnish Government would cooperate and support Binh Duong Province to develop the Smart City and Innovation Region Project, taking science and technology as the core factor, promoting startups and innovation in the community.

Binh Duong is very interested in developing small and medium-sized enterprises, especially technology enterprises. Therefore, the province also wants Finland to support improving innovation capacity for local businesses, connecting with technology transfer.

H.E. Keijo Norvanto emphasized that the two countries Viet Nam and Finland have just celebrated 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations. The long-standing traditional partnership between the two countries has gradually transformed into a bilateral cooperative relationship. The social and economic strengths of the two countries have complemented each other and helped them develop more stably, sustainably, and prosperously. Viet Nam has become Finland's largest trading partner in Southeast Asia. Among them, Binh Duong is one of the most dynamic and potentially developing localities in Viet Nam; thereby opening up many opportunities for cooperation and investment in the field of science and technology, towards the goal of sustainable economic development of the two countries.

During this visit and work, the Ambassador connected many Finnish enterprises to Binh Duong to study and discuss business opportunities in the export of wood and furniture products, "green" packaging and industrial paint, sustainable energy solutions for industrial parks, and energy from waste.
