This is the fifth time the Viet Nam Japan International Youth Cup U-13 has been held, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Viet Nam and Japan diplomatic relations, with the largest scale ever.
With the message "Exchanging football culture, training young players, developing Japanese football, introducing Japanese football to football fans in Viet Nam", this year's tournament has the participation of 12 teams. Among them, there are 7 home teams in Viet Nam: Becamex Binh Duong FC, Hanoi FC, Hue FC, Binh Phuoc FC, Dong Thap FC, Phu Nhuan – Ho Chi Minh City and PVF; 4 teams from Japan: Kawasaki Frontale, Yokohama FC, Kataller Toyama, Shimizu S-pulse and 01 guest team from Malaysia: FELDA Football Academy.

Speaking at the Opening Ceremony, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Viet Nam - Mr. Yamada Takio said that the theme of the 50th anniversary of Viet Nam and Japan diplomatic relations this year was "Hold hands together, towards the future, reach out to the world" so the Viet Nam Japan International Youth Cup U-13 was one of the activities expressing that spirit. Through activities, the relationship between the two countries has been tightened and together they reach out to the world. Especially in the current difficult world economic situation, the spirit of solidarity is extremely important. In addition, he hoped that from football tournaments like this, children would have more opportunities to train and become professional players, representing their country to compete in international arenas.

The tournament takes place from December 14 to December 17, 2023, at Binh Duong New City Stadium.
The opening match will take place on December 15 and broadcast live on channel BTV2, Binh Duong Radio - Television Station.
