PORTAL - On the afternoon of December 04, Eastern International University (EIU) coordinated with TÜV SÜD Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd and Becamex IDC Corp organized the Seminar "Accelerating Industry 4.0 adoption journey" at the Binh Duong Convention and Exhibition Center. This is an activity within the framework of the Horasis Asia Meeting 2023

The Seminar was attended by Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha - Vice Chairman of Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee (PPC); Mr. Frank - Jurgen Richter - Chairman of Horasis; leaders of Becamex IDC Corp and a large number of scientists, experts, and enterprises attended.

Catch up with the industry 4.0 trend

In recent years, with a strong spirit of innovation through breakthrough strategies, catching up with the trend of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, it has created motivation for Binh Duong province's socio-economy to continuously exceed targets, especially with rapid growth criteria such as international cooperation, attracting foreign investment, and trade surplus. Programs to promote innovation, science and technology research, and modern education such as STEM/STEAM, the province's innovation center, TechLab, FabLab, business incubators, etc. are deployed strongly and effectively.

Overview of the Seminar

To prepare for the next stage, delegates said that human resource development is the core factor and key to success. Binh Duong needs a comprehensive strategy to develop human resources in this digital era. In parallel with building a high-quality education and training system that meets international standards, the province needs to focus on key and spearhead occupations.

Experts discuss at the Seminar

According to Mr. Alexius Oh - Deputy Director of Viet Nam - Singapore Industry 4.0 Innovation Center, Binh Duong has built a complete innovation ecosystem to develop sustainably and attract more opportunities. Emphasizing the role of high-quality human resources as a decisive factor in attracting FDI enterprises. Mr. Alexius Oh said that FDI enterprises have increasingly high requirements for the quality of human resources. Therefore, low-cost labor will no longer be Viet Nam's competitive advantage. Viet Nam needs to prepare for the new trends. Two factors for FDI enterprises to consider and decide to invest in are the innovation ecosystem and supply chain.

Mr. Alexius Oh said that the province has built an attractive ecosystem for investors, Binh Duong's next strategy is to build high-quality human resources. Becamex, institutes and universities play the key role in training future human resources. In particular, the Viet Nam - Singapore Innovation Center has the mission of conducting connection and orientation activities, creating a scientific and technological research environment, helping enterprises transform their production and business models, increasing labor productivity, etc. It will be the place to lead innovation throughout the province. Some specific tasks that the Innovation Center is "ordered" include attracting, training and retaining high quality human resources; improving scientific and technological research and development capacity; supporting enterprises to innovate to improve labor productivity and transform production and business models.

At the Seminar, representatives of EIU and TÜV SÜD Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd also discussed the topics "Building a platform for I4.0 adoption" and "SIRI as a strategic tool for i4.0 transformation journey".

Encourage solutions to catch up with industry 4.0 trend

Speaking at the Seminar, Vice Chairman of the PPC – Mr. Nguyen Loc Ha said that after more than 25 years of reestablishment and development, from a province with a low starting point compared to other provinces and cities in the region, Binh Duong has transformed itself into a dynamic industrial, urban, and service developing province of the Southern Key Economic Region and Viet Nam. Particularly, in 2023, Binh Duong Innovation Region was honored by ICF as the TOP 1 community with a typical intelligent development strategy of the year. In the new period with the context of the fourth industrial revolution and strong digital transformation in all fields, development based on innovation and application of science and technology, in particular, new technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data analytics, Internet of Things and automation will be a powerful force reshaping industries and societies around the world.

Therefore, in the new development period, Binh Duong Provincial Leaders always pay attention to and encourage the active implementation of solutions to catch up with industry 4.0 trend; expand and develop several types of services; focus on developing high quality human resources; build urban development in a sustainable direction. Development goals focus on balancing economic development with social progress and green growth. In this strategic development plan, Becamex IDC Corp in general and universities in the province in particular, especially Eastern International University, are one of the essential elements in building, promoting the startup ecosystem, innovation, and industry 4.0.

Binh Duong provincial leaders expect that through the Seminar, multi-dimensional opinions and perspectives from leaders and experts will bring solutions that contribute to strongly promoting and perfecting the innovation and industry 4.0 ecosystem, as well as opening many new opportunities for connection and cooperation in the future.

On this occasion, Becamex IDC, TÜV SÜD Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd, VSIP and EIU signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a cooperative relationship between the units, thereby accelerating the industry 4.0 adoption journey in Viet Nam.
