Attending the event were Minister of Foreign Affairs of Viet Nam Bui Thanh Son and his counterpart, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore Vivian Balakrishnan, along with more than 600 guests and delegates of the two countries, international friends, and the Vietnamese community in Singapore.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son reviewed the history of relations between the two countries, with the great achievements that the two sides have achieved in the 50-year journey since the founding of diplomatic relations in 1973. The relationship between the two countries is increasingly strong, with the highlight being the establishment of a strategic partnership in 2013 that brought bilateral relations to a new height.
Minister Bui Thanh Son emphasized that, in the face of complicated developments in the region and the world, Viet Nam and Singapore must continue to promote cooperation at regional and international forums, striving for an increasingly strong and prosperous ASEAN. Viet Nam wishes to continue to expand, deepen, and further substantive strategic partnership, not only for the benefit of the two peoples but also to contribute to peace, stability, cooperation, and common prosperity in the region and the world.

Speaking at the event, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Singapore Vivian Balakrishnan emphasized the strong political ties between the two countries. Senior leaders of the two countries regularly have meetings and exchanges. Minister Vivian Balakrishnan assessed that Viet Nam has always been one of the countries with outstanding achievements in Asia. Since 2020, Singapore is one of the top foreign investors in Viet Nam, which shows the confidence of Singaporean enterprises in Viet Nam's long-term economic prospects. He hoped that the two sides would continue to consolidate the achievements made in the past 50 years to serve as the foundation for new areas of cooperation in the next 50 years.
