At the meeting, on behalf of provincial leaders, Vice Chairman of the PPC Nguyen Van Danh welcomed the delegation to visit and work with Binh Duong. Informing about the province's socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of 2023, the Vice Chairman of the PPC was pleased to say that Binh Duong has achieved positive results, the economic growth rate increased by 3.76%, the Index of Industrial Production was estimated to increase by 2.65%, and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI) reached 967 million USD. So far, Binh Duong has attracted more than 4,000 FDI projects from 65 countries and territories, with a total investment capital of more than 4 billion USD. Currently, Binh Duong prioritizes attracting investment in high-tech, less labor-intensive, and high-value-added sectors.

The Vice Chairman of the PPC emphasized that to achieve the above results, Binh Duong has received support from countries and organizations, including the WB. Appreciating the WB's projects implemented in Viet Nam, especially the Southern Binh Duong Province Water Environment Improvement Project with a total investment of about 310 million USD (equivalent to 7,200 billion VND), in which the WB lent more than 5,000 billion VND. The Vice Chairman of the PPC thanked the WB for supporting capital for Binh Duong to invest in socio-economic development. At the same time, he hoped that the WB would continue to support Binh Duong in implementing the project in the near future. Departments, branches, and units of the province will coordinate to implement the most effective cooperation with the WB.

Wempi Saputra thanked the leaders of Binh Duong province for taking the time to receive the delegation, and Mr. Wempi Saputra was impressed with the province's achievements, especially in attracting FDI. Informing about the results of the visit and working with the Vietnamese government in the past 2 days, Mr. Wempi Saputra said that in the coming time, the WB will support climate change infrastructure improvement projects in countries. The two sides also discussed ways to remove difficulties and speed up the progress of projects in Viet Nam. Mr. Wempi Saputra emphasized that the Southern Binh Duong Province Water Environment Improvement Project is a very important project in the WB's loan support program, and hoped that Binh Duong would coordinate well to implement the project effectively.
