At the press conference, Mr. Ngo Van Mit - Director of the Provincial Statistics Office said that the complicated and unpredictable world economic situation had affected the province's socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of 2023. Gross regional domestic product (GRDP) increased by 3.76% over the same period in 2022. In which, the agriculture, forestry and fishery sector increased by 3.28%; industry and construction increased by 2.93%; services increased by 5.9%.
Overview of the press conference
The index of industrial production (IIP) increased by 2.65% over the same period last year. However, some key industries in the processing and manufacturing industry such as garment, leather shoes, wood processing, etc. had low growth compared to previous years.
Investment capital for development of the whole society was estimated at 69,864 billion VND, up 10.3% over the same period last year. In which, the non-state capital reached 34,633 billion VND; foreign direct investment capital reached more than 28,000 billion VND. Particularly, the state budget capital managed by the locality was estimated at more than 7,000 billion VND.
Disbursement of public investment capital reached 13.6% of the province's plan and 24.4% of the Prime Minister's plan.
Regarding investment attraction, in the first 6 months of 2023, there were 2,852 newly registered domestic enterprises, with a registered capital of 23,213 billion VND, up 9.2% over the same period last year; 37 new foreign direct projects with registered capital of 343.4 million USD, down 80.8% over the same period last year. The whole province has 294 enterprises registered for dissolution.

According to the survey results, it is forecast that the number of new orders in the third quarter of 2023 for the textile, garment, leather, wood processing industries, etc. will continue to decrease compared to the second quarter of 2023.
Due to the production and business situation of enterprises facing many difficulties, leading to a decrease in income, the purchasing power of the domestic retail market decreased. Total retail sales of consumer goods and services were estimated at 151.2 billion VND, down 1.8% over the same period last year.
Import and export activities have continuously decreased from July 2022 to present. Export turnover of goods was estimated at 15.1 billion USD, down 14.2% over the same period last year; import turnover was estimated at 10.78%, down 14.7% over the same period last year.
New budget revenue was estimated at 31,550 billion VND, reaching 48% of the Prime Minister's estimate and reaching 42% of the provincial People's Council's estimate. Total local budget expenditure was estimated at 7,330 billion VND, reaching 24% of the provincial People's Council's estimate. Total mobilized capital of credit institutions reached 276,866 billion VND; outstanding loans reached 295,953 billion VND.
Social security continued to be well done. The province has promptly strengthened the connection between labor supply and demand, supporting workers to find jobs; visited, encouraged and supported workers in difficult circumstances. Of which, 14,132 people have been created jobs.
Education and training for the school year 2022-2023 has basically been completed to ensure the content and program; the quality of training as well as the qualifications of administrators and teachers has been improved.
Medical examination and treatment establishments ensured the on-site examination and treatment for the people; proactively prevented and controlled the pandemic; etc.
Propaganda and cultural activities continued to have innovation in content and form, creating a joyful atmosphere, serving the entertainment needs of all classes of people.
