In 2022, the revenue of the entire information and communications branch is estimated at 3,893,595 billion VND, up 12.7% compared to 2021 and 1.5 times higher than the forecast of GDP growth rate in 2022 of the whole country; payment to the state budget is estimated at 98,982.3 billion VND, up 24.7% compared to 2021; the total number of employees in the whole branch in 2022 is 1,510,027, up 5% compared to 2021; the labor productivity growth rate is 6.7% compared to 2021.
The digital economy's contribution to GDP in 2022 is estimated at about 14.26%. The number of digital technology enterprises registered in 2022 is estimated at 70,000, up 9.5% compared to 2021, achieving the plan set out in 2022.
The telecommunications enterprises have completed coverage for 2,152/2,418 signal depressions in villages and hamlets nationwide. Thus, the percentage of villages with signal nationwide reached 99.73%.
Press and communication work continues to affirm its important role in honestly reflecting the main currents of Vietnamese society, creating consensus, spreading positive energy, and creating social trust. Forcing cross-border social networking platforms to comply with, review, prevent and remove malicious information reached over 90% of the requirements of the State of Vietnam.
2023, will be the year of data, focusing on publishing and building databases of ministries, branches and localities; opening data for connection sharing and data security. The Ministry of Information and Communications will carry out work to create a fundamental change in Vietnam's data because data creation and data mining are fundamental changes in digital transformation.
Speaking at the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed the information and communications branch as having an important and increasingly necessary position in the context of the strong ongoing Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Focusing on building the national database, focusing on updating and processing data regularly and continuously, ensuring "correct, sufficient, clean, alive"; including data on land, housing, etc. Stepping up the construction and development of modern and synchronous digital infrastructure, in which public investment leads, activates social investment sources and enhances foreign investment attraction. The focus of digital infrastructure development in 2023 is to commercialize 5G networks, create changes in connectivity, so that communication infrastructure becomes an important infrastructure of the economy. Postal development becomes an essential infrastructure of the country and of the digital economy. Focusing on promoting the digital economy, the focus is on developing a fundamental digital economy to serve people and enterprises, the branch digital economy is a long-term strategy for comprehensive and sustainable development. Increasing the percentage of people doing online public services from home, the percentage of people installing Vietnamese digital platforms.
