Open Innovation Ecosystem - The Next Big Think
This is the focal event in the TECHFEST VIETNAM 2022 series of activities organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the People's Committee of Binh Duong province. In particular, the event attracted about 8,000 visitors directly and online from 63 provinces, cities and 20 countries around the world.
TECHFEST is the largest annual event for the Innovative Startup Community in Vietnam within the framework of Project 844 approved by the Prime Minister, held for the first time in 2015. TECHFEST VIETNAM 2022 with the theme "Open Innovation Ecosystem - The Next Big Think" takes place from December 02 to 04, 2022 at Binh Duong Convention and Exhibition Center.
The goal of TECHFEST VIETNAM 2022 is towards promoting technological and innovation solutions that Vietnam has advantages and potential in the future to deal with the effects of the pandemic as well as economic recovery, contributing to sustainable development.
This year, TECHFEST VIETNAM has expanded in scale with many resources from society, especially enterprises.
Through a series of regional and local events, TECHFEST has brought the activities of technology villages, experts and enterprises together, discovered and solved local problems with technology and innovative solutions.

Speaking at the opening of the event, Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat affirmed that the national innovative startup ecosystem with sustainable and strong development is based on the development of each component and the close linkage of the ecosystem with partners in the world, the ability to attract domestic and international resources.
The Minister wishes that all will continue to contribute together to make the ecosystem strong, to make the connection network more and more expanded and effective, attracting domestic and foreign resources for the national innovative startup ecosystem. The startup community as well as management agencies, domestic and international organizations continue to have more initiatives and more effective activities for the coming years.
Innovative start-up is an essential driving force of a sustainable development economy
Speaking at the program, Chairman of the PPC Vo Van Minh said that in 2022, Binh Duong will have 25 years of establishment and development. The province's socio-economy has achieved many outstanding and comprehensive results in various fields, being considered as one of the pioneer localities in industry and attracting investment of the whole country.
Throughout its development, Binh Duong province has determined to innovate towards industrialization and modernization and gradually transition to a new stage, welcoming the Fourth Industrial Revolution wave, building a smart city, an innovation region, and a new industrial ecosystem.
However, besides the results achieved, Binh Duong has also been facing many challenges and inadequacies that need to be overcome soon related to the improvement of growth quality, labor productivity, issues of social equality, industrialization and urbanization; the construction of social infrastructure to ensure connectivity and integration; contribute to Binh Duong province's harmonious and sustainable development.

One of the strategies Binh Duong aims to increase the contribution rate of total factor productivity to growth is development based on innovation, strongly applying science and technology, towards the goal of transforming to a digital economy.
With those orientations, implementing the Prime Minister's Project 844 on supporting the development of the national startup ecosystem, Binh Duong province has paid special attention, developed supporting mechanisms and policies and devoted a lot of resources to developing science and technology, especially innovation start-ups; quickly issued very specific policies, close to the local, both supporting start-ups and incubators - start-up support organizations.
At the same time, the province has built a modern and synchronous technical infrastructure, especially in the New City area, meeting international standards, including conditions to support start-ups; focused on facilitating and investing in the construction of the Center for Community Initiatives and Start-up Support, supporting the development of Fablab Labs at universities and colleges as as well as many other activities. Paying special attention to the application of the Triple Helix model, cooperation between the State, the Enterprise, and the University, to open up mechanisms, facilitate and encourage organizations and enterprises in the whole society to actively participate in investing in building an open innovative startup ecosystem; organized many international events to open up opportunities to attract investment, transfer technology, exchange human resources, and develop innovation in the province.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that, in the current trend of integration and development, start up and building enterprises is an essential driving force of the economy of each country and of the whole world; solving global difficulties and challenges as well as towards the sustainable development of each country in particular and of the whole world in general.
The Prime Minister emphasized that start-up is difficult, but innovative start-up and creating values on the basis of exploiting wisdom, technology and sustainable new business models is much more difficult.
"I am also very happy that we Vietnamese have also been building such business models and have built a foundation and developed to reach the international level. Through the images, videos, and "key moments" reported by the Ministry of Science and Technology today, we can see that many Vietnam innovative start-ups worth billions of dollars have been forming and developing, not only in Vietnam but also around the world", the Prime Minister expressed.
The Prime Minister highly appreciated the determination and leadership in the start-up and innovation movement in both width and depth of Binh Duong province over the past time. At the same time, he supported and affirmed that the development of a favorable environment for startups, innovation, and an innovative startup ecosystem is extremely necessary and valuable.
According to the Prime Minister, the things that enterprises and investors worry or still face difficulties in the process of start-up and investment, Ministries, branches and localities need to pay attention, focus on handling, if necessary, change or add new policies, learn from international experiences and listen to the requirements of the innovative startup community, report to the Government for supplementation.
