Accordingly, the Project aims to develop the woodworking industry in Binh Duong province to reach the level of modern technology, capable of producing high quality wooden products to meet the needs of export and domestic consumption.
Striving to 2025, the export turnover of the woodworking and furniture manufacturing industry in Binh Duong province will reach 9-10 billion USD; by 2030, it will reach 12-13 billion USD. Building 09 industrial clusters specialized in woodworking with an average area of 70-75 ha/cluster; completing 01 industrial cluster in 2022 and continuing to complete the remaining 08 clusters before 2025. Demand for sawn timber reaches 3,855,107 m3 and industrial wood reaches 474,616 m3.
The average growth rate of production value and added value of the woodworking industry and the production of wood products in Binh Duong province in the 2021-2025 period will reach 20%/year; the 2026-2030 period will reach 10%/year.
The project also promulgates specific development orientations. Regarding raw material woodworking industry: Investing in renovating advanced technology and modern equipment to produce high-quality wood materials for the industry of producing high-quality wood products for export and domestic consumption, including investment in plant varieties to create artificial and industrial wood materials; maintaining and developing plantation timber material areas (rubber wood and melaleuca wood) in localities in the Southeast region and the Central Highlands; forming linkages to develop wood material areas between Binh Duong province and other provinces in the Southeast region and the Central Highlands; developing supporting industries to serve the woodworking industry with high-quality raw materials for the production of high-grade wood products for export and domestic consumption, giving priority to attracting large-scale investment projects, advanced technology, using less labor and creating finished products; maintaining and expanding the domestic consumption market and exporting high quality wood materials, etc.
Regarding wood product manufacturing industry: Diversifying the designs of products for export and domestic consumption. The product structure includes high-class products made from high-grade wood (accounting for 15-20%) and high-quality products made from common quality wood (80-85%) to meet the diverse needs of domestic and export consumers; building and developing brands of high quality wooden furniture products of the province on domestic and international markets; investing in renovating advanced technology and modern equipment to produce high-quality wood products for export and domestic consumption, etc.
Regarding the development orientation of woodworking industrial parks and clusters: Researching and selecting a number of planned industrial parks that meet the the conditions on size, area, infrastructure, and industries attracting investment to develop the model of "high-rise factories in industrial parks" to serve to attract investment projects in the furniture manufacturing industry; researching and integrating into the planning of Binh Duong province for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 a number of industrial parks specialized in furniture manufacturing industry. After the planning of Binh Duong province is approved by the Prime Minister, it will be implemented in the period after 2025.
At the same time, arranging furniture manufacturing enterprises in industrial parks in association with mechanical product manufacturing enterprises to provide supporting industrial products for the woodworking industry. Developing industrial clusters in the direction of concentrating, completing the infrastructure system; rationally distributing and planning concentrated industrial parks and industrial clusters of woodworking industry in the Northern districts of Binh Duong province, etc.
