Latin American enterprises explore investment cooperation opportunities in Binh Duong

​PORTAL - On the afternoon of November 24, at Binh Duong Convention and Exhibition Center, Mr. Nguyen Van Danh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) hosted a reception for the delegation of leaders and Latin American enterprises led by Mr. Luu Van Khang - Vietnam Trade Counselor in Mexico to visit and work with Binh Duong province.

​At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the PPC Nguyen Van Danh said that Binh Duong is located in the Southern Key Economic Region - a dynamic, fast-growing and powerful economic region of Vietnam, with a convenient location adjacent to Ho Chi Minh City, near the airport and international seaport.

Promoting its geographical advantage as a trade gateway between provinces in the Southern Key Economic Region, Binh Duong has actively invested in developing modern and synchronous technical infrastructure, built a complete intra-regional and inter-regional transport system, creating favorable conditions for industry-commercial-service development and planning for the construction of new urban areas. Currently, the province has built and developed 29 industrial parks with a total area of nearly 12,700 hectares.

Overview of the meeting

At the same time, Binh Duong is also one of the leading provinces and cities in the country in socio-economic development, strongly developing industry and attracting foreign direct investment (FDI). Accumulated to November 15, 2022, Binh Duong ranked second in the country with 4,079 projects from 65 countries and territories, with a total registered investment capital of nearly 40 billion USD. Export turnover reached more than 35 billion USD, import reached more than 25 billion USD, maintaining a trade surplus of nearly 10 billion USD. Currently, Binh Duong's products have been exported to more than 90 countries and territories around the world, contributing to affirming Binh Duong's brand name in the world market.

Through the meeting, Vice Chairman of the PPC Nguyen Van Danh wanted to introduce more specifically about the potential and opportunities for investment and trade of Binh Duong province. At the same time, he invited enterprises and investors from Latin American countries to cooperate in trade and invest in areas that Binh Duong province is interested in such as high-tech industries, supporting industries, information technology, high-tech agriculture, using renewable energy in an environmentally friendly manner; especially investment in trade and service development, construction investment, infrastructure development and training of high-quality human resources.

Mr. Miguel Angel Landeros Volquarts - President of the Western branch of the Mexican Business Council for Foreign Trade (COMCE) cum Honorary Consul of Vietnam in Jalisco and Colima states, Mexico affirmed that, in the past 10 years, the bilateral trade relationship between Vietnam and Mexico has made great progress. Vietnam's exports to Mexico increased more than 7 times and imports from Mexico increased more than 30 times. Vietnam and Mexico still have a lot of potential to exploit in such fields as manufacturing, auto industry, agriculture and tourism, thereby bringing the two countries' relationship to a new stage of development.

He said that Mexico has close trade with countries in North America, especially the United States and Canada. Currently, Mexico in general and Jalisco state in particular are diversifying the business market. In addition to major Asian countries such as Japan, Korea, China and India, Mexican enterprises are very interested in the Vietnamese market and wish to cooperate, seek new development investment opportunities with Vietnamese enterprises in general and Binh Duong province in particular.

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Luu Van Khang - Vietnam Trade Counselor in Mexico hoped that, through the meeting, he would create favorable conditions for enterprises in Binh Duong and Latin America to meet, contact and seek business cooperation opportunities; at the same time, in the coming time, more activities will be organized to introduce, promote and connect trade between the two sides.​

Delegates exchange and discuss at the meeting

At the meeting, delegates and enterprises also exchanged and updated information on economic - trade policies of Latin American countries; analyzed the market situation, distribution channels and demand for Vietnam's export industries in the current period, thereby identifying opportunities and solutions to promote exports and attract investment from the Latin American region.
