Prioritizing green, smart and sustainable development
Speaking at the opening of the webinar, Mr. Nguyen Van Danh emphasized that over the past 50 years, the traditional and friendly relationship between Vietnam and Belgium has developed actively, diversely and effectively in all fields of cooperation. Regarding investment cooperation, Belgium currently has 82 projects with a total capital of more than 1 billion USD, ranking 22nd among 140 countries and territories investing in Vietnam. The EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) which took effect from August 01, 2020 has helped enterprises of the two countries have more favorable conditions to access each other's markets, bringing benefits to both sides. Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee said that Binh Duong is the 2nd locality in the country in terms of attracting foreign investment capital, after Ho Chi Minh City, with a total of 4,042 investment projects from 65 countries and territories, total registered capital of more than 39.4 billion USD. In which, Belgium has invested in 5 projects with a total registered capital of more than 39 million USD. Up to now, Binh Duong province has established bilateral cooperation relationships with 11 foreign provinces and cities, including the province of East Flanders of the Kingdom of Belgium.
In the coming time, Binh Duong province gives priority to attracting foreign investment for green transformation such as sustainable energy, green economy, circular economy from developed countries, the world's leading potential partners with modern management level, including Belgian partners in high-tech, environment-friendly, less labor-intensive industries, creating high added value; financial services, logistics; supporting industries, high-tech agriculture and especially attracting investment in the Science and Technology Industrial Park with the vision of becoming the innovation center of the Southern Key Economic Region.

At the conference, Mr. Nguyen The Duy - Director of English-speaking markets, Becamex IDC Corp introduced to Belgian enterprises about Binh Duong's investment environment and projects being developed by Becamex IDC to meet the investment needs of enterprises. Especially the orientation to build Binh Duong Smart City in the coming time; as well as the construction progress of the Science and Technology Industrial Park and the Binh Duong New City World Trade Center. At the same time, he shared about the construction of transport infrastructure connecting the region, the Logistics system, training of high-quality labor force, and Vietnam's preferential investment policies.

Mr. Le Phu Hoa - Director of the Foreign Affairs Department said that Binh Duong has implemented the Smart City Project with remarkable results. Binh Duong is currently an official member and reliable partner of 03 international organizations, including: Asian Economic Cooperation Forum (Horasis), World Trade Center Association (WTCA) and Intelligent Community Forum (ICF). For 4 consecutive years from 2019 to 2022, Binh Duong Smart Region was honored by the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) as one of 21 cities and regions with typical smart city development strategies of the world (SMART 21). And especially in July 2021, Binh Duong province was honored in TOP 7 by ICF, becoming one of 07 communities with typical smart development strategies in the world.
Regarding human resource training, Mr. Pham Van Tuyen - Deputy Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Binh Duong currently has 08 universities and colleges, including training in precision mechanics. In the coming time, Binh Duong will deploy training of human resources according to the needs of enterprises, especially training in the field of high technology, technology 4.0. Regarding the benefits of FTA for Binh Duong's investment environment, Ms. Phan Thi Khanh Duyen - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade said that the FTA brings great benefits to Vietnam in general and Binh Duong province in particula, especially investors when investing in Vietnam. The provisions of the Agreement that Vietnam is applying will create extremely favorable conditions for enterprises when exporting and importing goods through the countries and territories participating in the Agreement.
