National Highway 13 renovation and expansion project prepares for long-term urban development

​PORTAL - On the morning of February 09, the delegation of provincial leaders led by Mr. Nguyen Van Loi - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial Delegation of National Assembly Deputies went to survey the actual progress of projects on National Highway 13.

Attending were Mr. Vo Van Minh - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Van Loc - Member of the Provincial Standing Party Committee, Head of Commission for Mass Mobilization of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Mr. Nguyen Van Danh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of some departments, branches, leaders of Thu Dau Mot city and Thuan An city.

The National Highway 13 expansion project, section from Vinh Phu (Thuan An city) to Le Hong Phong intersection (Thu Dau Mot city) is 12.7 km long. In which, phase I (section from Vinh Phu to Ong Bo bridge) is 4,875m long; phase II (from Ong Bo bridge to Huu Nghi intersection) is 2,868m long; phase III (from Tu Do intersection to Le Hong Phong intersection) is 4,898m long.  It is expected to expand 2 more lanes from 12 to 18m wide, bringing the total number of lanes to 8 lanes, the road surface width from 39.5 to 40.5m. On National Highway 13, there is also an overpass at the Huu Nghi intersection - Binh Hoa 4-way intersection, with a scale of 880m long and 17m wide; an overpass at Hoa Lan 4-way intersection with a scale of 646m long, 17m wide; building and expanding Tan Phu bridge by 1 unit in the direction from Ho Chi Minh City to Thu Dau Mot city, bringing the total width of the bridge to 40.5m; building 3-lane box culverts at Suoi Giua toll station.

The investment project for National Highway 13 renovation and expansion aims to continue creating a "technical framework" for the socio-economic development of Binh Duong province, meeting 2 big goals of relieving traffic pressure on the route and preparing for long-term urban development by raising floors, shaping the arterial traffic axis, continuing to attract investment for the new development phase. Thereby contributing to building Binh Duong into a civilized and modern city, one of the developed urban areas of the Southern Key Economic Region, with great spillover effects, strongly affecting neighboring provinces and surrounding areas.​

In addition, on National Highway 13, there are two important traffic projects to combat traffic congestion, namely the underpass at Phuoc Kien 5-way intersection, Dinh Market 4-way intersection, which are also completing documents and procedures for implementation.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Loi directs branches and localities to speed up site clearance​

Through the field survey, Mr. Nguyen Van Loi highly appreciated the efforts of localities and units in the process of preparing documents and procedures for projects on National Highway 13. The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee requested that in the first quarter of 2022, it is necessary to focus on completing the documents and procedures; in the second quarter of 2022, focus on site clearance to start projects soon. "Site clearance is considered the most difficult stage in the project implementation process, so it is necessary to promote the role and creatively apply the mass mobilization so that people and enterprises can agree and see the common benefits brought by the project. Departments, branches and localities need to focus their resources on speeding up the site clearance to soon implement these key projects."- The Secretary emphasized. The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee agreed on the time to start the project at the latest on the upcoming holiday of April 30.

The delegation also went to survey a number of intersections with frequent congestion such as Song Than overpass, roads in An Binh and Binh Duong wards of Di An city. The Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee asked local leaders to quickly coordinate with provincial departments and branches to soon expand roads and solve traffic congestion, etc.
