Binh Duong spends support for subjects affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in accordance with regulations

​PORTAL - On the afternoon of October 23, in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee held a Press conference on the situation of spending support for subjects in the province affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

​​Attending were Mr. Nguyen Tam Duong - Chief of Office of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Propaganda and Training Commission of Provincial Party Committee, Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, Tan Uyen Town; representatives of Central and local press agencies inside and outside the province.

At the conference, Mr. Le Minh Quoc Cuong - Director of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs informed about the results of implementing support policy packages for subjects in the province. Accordingly, regarding rent support for workers staying in boarding houses (300,000 VND/person), as of October 23, 2021, districts, towns and cities have approved support for 1,423,300 cases with a total amount of 426.99 billion VND; has supported food and foodstuffs for workers with difficult circumstances staying in boarding houses (500,000 VND/person) for 1,394,830 cases with a total amount of 697,415 billion VND.

Mr. Cuong added that the implementation time of the above 02 support policies of the province was completed on August 31, 2021. However, through reflections of people and recommendations of Thuan An City and Tan Uyen Town, Binh Duong Provincial People's Committee has agreed on the policy of continuing to spend for those eligible to receive support for the above 02 policies and were present in the locality in August 2021 but missed out. Specifically, Thuan An city additionally paid rent support for 52,600 cases and food and foodstuff support for 52,603 cases; Tan Uyen Town additionally paid rent support for 44,933 cases and and food and foodstuff support for 41,317 cases.

Also according to Mr. Cuong, in the process of paying support to the subjects, Tan Uyen Town and Phu Giao district reviewed and discovered about 13,000 cases of boarding house support with the same subject and 12,602 cases of food and foodstuff support with the same subject. The localities promptly recovered the entire sum that was mistakenly spent on duplicate subjects (about more than 2,000 cases with a total amount of more than 700 million VND).

Regarding the cause of the above situation, Mr. Doan Hong Tuoi - Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Uyen Town said that in the same short period of time, many policy packages had to be spent support, so the review and making of lists of communes and wards faced difficulties such as boarding house owners and workers who send the same list many times, making it difficult for the data entry and synthesis section to control, so the list was duplicated. When making support payments, the Division of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs promptly advised the town's People's Committee to direct specialized agencies to review and check the support payments in communes and wards. Therefore, up to now, the town has implemented to ensure the correct support policies, there is no wrong spending hundreds of billions of dong for the subjects as some newspapers reported.

Through the comments from representatives of the press agencies, Mr. Nguyen Tam Duong - Chief of Office of the Provincial People's Committee affirmed that Binh Duong is one of the localities that has implemented quite well the support policy for those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, especially the workers, the poor and the people staying in boarding houses. In addition to the policies of the Central Government, the province has also promulgated additional support policies from the provincial budget to support those who are in difficulty due to the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, agencies and units have mobilized organizations, individuals and enterprises to join hands with the province to implement social security policies for people facing difficulties due to the pandemic. In the coming time, localities will continue to review the remaining cases to pay support in accordance with regulations.
