​PORTAL - The Provincial People's Committee promulgates the Program on child accident and injury prevention and control for the 2021-2030 period.

Accordingly, the Program sets out 3 main goals: Reducing the rate of child accidents, injuries and deaths from accidents and injuries. In which, reducing the rate of child accidents and injuries by 2025 to 550/100,000 children and 500/100,000 children by 2030; reducing the rate of child deaths from accidents and injuries by 2025 to 16/100,000 children and 15/100,000 children by 2030; annually, reducing the number of child deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents by 5 - 10%, reducing child drowning deaths by 10% by 2025 and 20% by 2030; 70,000 houses belonging to households with children meet Safe House criteria by 2025 and 85,000 houses by 2030; 669 schools meet Safe School standards by 2025 and 669 by 2030; 09 communes, wards and commune-level towns meet the Safe Community standards for child accident and injury prevention and control by 2025 and 12 communes, wards and commune-level towns by 2030.

Communicating on child accident and injury prevention and control to all levels of government, community, parents, child caregivers and children, striving that 90% of children, parents and child caregivers are provided with knowledge and skills on child accident and injury prevention and control by 2025 and 95% by 2030; 90% of children aged 6 to under 16 know the regulations on road traffic safety by 2025 and 95% by 2030; 60% of children aged 6 to under 16 years old know safety skills in the water environment by 2025 and 70% by 2030; 50% of children aged 6 to under 16 years old can swim safely by 2025 and 60% by 2030; 90% of children use life jackets when participating in traffic on inland waterway vehicles with compulsory use of lifebuoys by 2025 and 95% by 2030.

Simultaneously, training and retraining on child accident and injury prevention and control for officials at all levels, branches and mass organizations related, striving for 100% of civil servants, public employees and officials at provincial and district levels who are involved in the child protection, care and education of relevant branches and mass organizations to be trained in knowledge and skills on child accident and injury prevention and control.

The Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs coordinates with other departments, committees, branches and localities to strengthen communication, education, social mobilization to raise awareness, knowledge and skills on child accident and injury prevention and control for all levels, branches and the entire society; guide, advise and educate children on safety knowledge and skills; review, amend, supplement and organize the implementation of laws and policies and research to perfect standards and criteria on child accident and injury prevention and control safety; build a safe environment in child accident and injury prevention and control. At the same time, it is necessary to have interventions to prevent and reduce the incidence and mortality of child accidents and injuries, especially child drowning prevention and control, child traffic accident prevention, prevention of falls, fires, burns, animal bites, child suicide prevention, etc.
