As reported by the National Traffic Safety (TS) Committee, in the first 3 months of 2021, there were 3,206 traffic accidents (TA) nationwide, killing 1,672 people, injuring 2,386 people. Compared to the same period in 2020, the number of accidents decreased by 7.58%, the number of injured people decreased by 7.12%, and the number of deaths increased by 2.01%.
The Ministry of Transport directed the Project Management Units, investors and related units to commence new works and projects: My Thuan - Can Tho Expressway, Long Thanh International Airport. At the same time, the authorities strengthen many solutions for road management and maintenance, dealing with 23 potential black points of TA, in order to ensure smooth and safe traffic throughout the national highway system.

For Binh Duong province, from December 15, 2020 to March 14, 2021, the entire province had 252 cases of TA, killing 67 people, injuring 245 people, damaging 406 vehicles; no railway and waterway TA occurred. Compared to the same period in 2020, the situation of road TA has reduced all 03 criteria. Specifically, the number of deaths decreased by 16.25%; the number of injured people decreased by 29.19%; the number of accidents decreased by 22.22%.
Also in the 1st quarter of 2021, functional branches and localities in the province focused on synchronous implementation of solutions step by step to overcome traffic congestion, without prolonged congestion. The functional forces strengthened the organization to patrol, control and drastically implemented the thematic plan to prevent and control youths and young pioneers who gather and race illegally.
In the 2nd quarter of 2021, the Provincial TS Committee continues to direct functional forces to propose solutions to overcoming traffic congestion and handling black spots of TA; inspect and strictly handle acts of violating the urban order, mobilize people to dismantle works that violate right-of-way corridors, etc.
Speaking at the conference, Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh assessed that the work of ensuring TOS in the 1st quarter of the country had many positive changes. However, there are still some problems that need to be overcome such as: The number of deaths increased by 2%, some particularly serious TA occurred.
The Permanent Deputy Prime Minister asked the National TS Committee to urge the inspection of ensuring TOS in localities that TA increased in the 1st quarter, at the same time, each locality must have an in-depth report on specific assessment of the causes and effective solutions to overcome and reduce TA in the 2nd quarter and the whole year 2021; deal with potential black spots that lose TS; strengthen patrol, control and strictly handle TS violations, etc.
