During the period from March 19 to April 30, 2020, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Binh Duong province called for "All people to join in supporting the prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic and helping the people affected by drought and saline intrusion". The call was quickly spread and received positive responses from people, businesses, agencies and departments through various forms such as supporting with cash, medical supplies and necessities, food, free masks, rice ATM, exemption and reduction of rent for poor people and workers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, etc.
After the launch, the Provincial Relief Committee received nearly VND 15 billion from donors, including more than VND 11 billion in cash and goods for prevention and control the Covid-19 pandemic, worth nearly VND 4 billion. With the whole amount of money mobilized, the Provincial Relief Committee made a donation of VND 2 billion to provinces severely damaged by drought and saline intrusion. The Provincial Relief Committee also extracted some amount from the Relief Fund for procurement of medical supplies and equipment for the pandemic prevention and control, and at the same time handed over all mobilized goods to the Department of Health for allocation to isolation areas. In addition, the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee mobilized enterprises to donate 8 tons of rice to the poor and disadvantaged people in Di An and Thuan An provincial cities; established 4 rice ATMs, allocating 12 tons of rice to laborers in need, and giving 200 gifts in 4 communes in Dau Tieng district, etc.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of districts, towns and cities received the total amount of over VND 8.5 billion. The provincial socio-political organizations and the provincial Red Cross mobilized businesses, union members and members to contribute to and help laborers and disadvantaged people with a total amount of over VND 211 billion.
The Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee in collaboration with the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs assisted 6,839 people selling lottery tickets with a total budget of over VND 6 billion, encouraged more than 1,000 landlords to support laborers by exemption and reduction of rent rooms affected by the Covid-19 pandemic with a total amount of VND 15 billion; and gave 19,596 gifts worth nearly VND 7.5 billion.
For foreign affairs works, Binh Duong organized delegations to directly donate medical supplies and funds to Kandal and Kratie provinces (Cambodia) and Champasak province (Laos) with a total amount of VND 3 billion; Becamex IDC Corporation granted VND 2.2 billion for procurement of medical supplies for Yamaguchi, Japan.
