The session was attended by Mai Hung Dung, Member of Provincial Standing Party Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of Provincial People's Committee; Tran Thanh Liem, Deputy Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of Science Technology and Innovation Institute, Ministry of Science and Technology, Spanish Science and Technology Association, Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) of Taiwan, scientists and researchers, domestic and foreign businesses.

The overview of the thematic session A
The lectures at the meeting focused their discussions on the regional and technopolis innovation system, the role of academy and Maker Space in boosting innovation in Viet Nam, the potentials of start-up businesses in building smart cities platforms. These were considered basic and practical contents for smart city building projects including the ecosystem for start-up activities, scientific and technological businesses. Spanish lecturers presented and shared their experiences on studying and innovating the technologies during the process of industrial and economic development in some European and Asian countries and economic zones. The technological innovation would help cut down the expenditures, save production materials, control the climate change and environmental pollution. They also presented plans and policies to promote the industries and smart economy in Granada city of Spain.

Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) of Taiwan shared experiences in smart city building
Nguyen Ngoc Song, Vice Director of Science Technology and Innovation Institute stressed that the thematic session targeted at boosting innovation on culture on the basis of technology that contributes to the sustainable development by narrowing the gaps between developing countries and the developed ones. The participation of renowned lecturers, the thematic sessions received both academic and practical experiences for building the innovative startup ecosystem, innovative smart city and technopolis.
