Binh Duong has over ten thousand overseas Vietnamese living in different countries and territories in the world. Overseas Vietnamese has invested in 135 projects in Binh Duong with the investment capitals of over VND 4,000 billion. These projects are mainly in the fields of transportation, food processing, engineering, fertilizer production, handicrafts, woodworking and real estate. Each year, over 5,000 turns of overseas Vietnamese of Binh Duong register and complete their exit and entry procedures. In 2017, overseas remittances sent to the province reached USD130 million (VND2.80 trillion), an increase of 8 percent compared to 2016.

Addressing the event, Nguyen Thanh Liem, Chairman of Binh Duong provincial Fatherland Front's Committee expected that overseas Vietnamese would continue to promote national traditions, stand together to build a sustainable community, preserve national characters, have many realistic deeds for their homeland, and become a bridge for cooperation, and promote the image of both Binh Duong and Vietnam.
On behalf of local authorities, Dang Minh Hung, Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee briefed local socio-economic situation in 2017. He stressed that last year's achievements of Binh Duong came from significant contributions of overseas Vietnamese. On the occasion of the coming Lunar New year, he wished them and their families happy new year in homeland Binh Duong.
Many of the overseas Vietnamese expressed their pleasures to the local development, shared their desires and feelings after living, studying and working abroad. They praised the province's development and promised to stand together and provide useful contributions to the country.
