The event welcomed
Mai Hung Dung, Member of Provincial Standing Party Committee,
Standing Vice Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee and Carel Richter,
Holland’s new Consul General in HCM city.
The lighting lab
is the result of cooperation between Dutch firm Philips
Lighting, Binh Duong-based Becamex Investment and Industrial
Development Corporation (Becamex IDC) and Eastern International University
(EIU). The lab is the first move towards building a smart city in Binh Duong.
After being put
into operation, the lab will serve in teaching lighting science at the
university. It will help EIU students approach and practice modern lighting
technologies of Philips with the supports of experts from Dutch firm Philips
Lighting. Experiences from Philips’ projects in Vietnam will help students in
their real working environment.

Prof. Nguyen Van
Phuc, dean of EIU said the lab not only helps his students but also benefit
enterprises in researching lighting science, training working staff to optimize
the use of lighting and to cut the cost of production. He stressed the lab
meets the demand of modern market and society.
