Mr. Tran Thanh Do: According to Decision No. 2036/QĐ-BTTTT of the Ministry of Information and Communications, 59 provinces and cities nationwide will convert telecommunication area code. The area code conversion is divided into three phases:

- Phase 1: starting from February 11^st 2017, applies to 13 provinces and cities.

- Phase 2: starting from April 15^th 2017 applies for 23 provinces and cities.

- Phase 3: from June 17^th 2017 applied to the last 23 provinces and cities. Binh Duong is one of 23 provinces and cities convert the last fixed area code of VNPT. Time starts at 00 hours 00 minutes on June 17^th 2017.

The conversion of fixed telephone area code under the telecommunication planning is the activity, which ensures the digital archive is used economically and efficiently in line with the development of market and technology. At the same time, the conversion of area code will help area code length consistent, meet international practice. However, as the operator with the largest fixed-line market share, accounting for more than 90% of the fixed-line market share, VNPT has been affected by the transition. To best prepare for transition area code, VNPT Binh Duong Business Center always strictly follow area code conversion plan and direction of the Department of Information and Communication, careful preparation of technical solutions and human resources.

To this point, how has the VNPT Binh Duong Business Center prepared for the conversion of area code, sir?

Mr. Tran Thanh Do: Area code conversion in Binh Duong has been strictly prepared by VNPT Binh Duong Business Center and VNPT Binh Duong according to the general plan of VNPT Group and VNPT - Vinaphone, on the point of setting goal of customer interests to the top and ensures smooth communication. The Center actively promotes contents such as: benefits of area code conversion, why it must be converted, what is new area code, details of how to dial new area code... on newspapers, radio, banners, leaflets and posters. At the same time, print on paper billing notifications sent to all clients. The center also organizes training for technical staff and sales staff; these staff will directly propagandize, explain to the people better understand contents, meaning, time and plan of converting area code at VNPT's transaction points and when collecting freight. In addition, technical solutions have been completed, the billing system will be up and running 24/7 to deal with issues arising during the area code conversion process.

To minimize contact lost during area code conversion, what is the main solution of VNPT, sir?

Mr. Tran Thanh Do: From June 17^th 2017, Binh Duong is one of 23 last provinces and cities to carry out the fixed area code conversion, the time to start area code conversion is from 00 hours 00 minutes on June 17^th 2017. Instead of using the current area code of 650, it will move to a new area code of 274. To ensure smooth communication during area code conversion, the VNPT Binh Duong Business Center will carry out a parallel dialing technique within 30 days from the beginning of the transition. Specifically, VNPT will carry out parallel dialing for old codes and new codes from 00:00 hours on June 17^th 2017 to 23:59 hours on July 16^th 2017. Simultaneously continue to keep message tone in Vietnamese and English within 30 days from the end of the parallel dial.

In addition to the impact on communication, there will be some other effects such as businesses, individuals have to change products related to area code (signage, business cards), must save phone number again... Could you tell us, what kind of activities will VNPT Binh Duong Business Center offer to assist its clients in the transition?

Mr. Tran Thanh Do: With the view of putting the interests of customers above all, Binh Duong Business Center is very focused on supporting customers in the process of converting area code. The Center has soon deployed communication work on converting area codes to customers. At the same time, through the customer care center of the unit: 800126, at transaction points, the unit has instructed transaction staff and operators to capture, explain and guide guests. Call center staff are arranged 24/7, have specific scenarios, questionnaire available to be answered as soon as the customer inquiries. Technical staff are also arranged to handle promptly when a technical problem.
