Attending the conference

- Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Vietnam (VCCI), Mrs
Kgomotso Ruth Magau - Ambassador of South Africa in Viet Nam, Mrs. Marida van
der Westhuizen Nel - First Secretary, South African Embassy in Vietnam and
leaders of departments, business associations and businesses in the province.
The conference aimed to
provide information, trade and investment cooperation opportunities when business
South Africa market in particular and Africa - Middle East market in general
for localities, associations and businesses; at the same time, exchanged
solutions to strengthen international relations, trade with Africa - Middle
East countries. In addition, the conference also
introduced economic situation and investment projects, policies of Binh Duong
province.
Currently, Vietnam is
South Africa's leading strategic partner in South East Asia. Over the past 10
years, total bilateral trade turnover of two countries has increased by more
than five times, from $192 million US dollars in 2007 to $920 million US
dollars in 2013 and reached $1,03 billion US dollars in 2016, of which imports
reached $147.7 million US dollars, increased of 22% over 2015.

Promotion Conference
On behalf of provincial
leaders, Mr. Tran Thanh Liem - Vice Chairman of PPC expressed his thanks and
honor to cooperate with the South African Embassy in Vietnam and VCCI to
organize conference to inform about the development of Binh Duong province,
along with investment attraction preferential policies, trade development and
tourism of local. Mr. Tran Thanh Liem emphasized that, conference was an
opportunity for the two sides to connect information and cooperate to exploit
their potential and strengths. This has contributed to consolidating and
broadening the cooperation in trade, tourism, culture and education between
Vietnam and South Africa in general and the cooperation between Binh Duong and
South Africa in particular. Especially, to enhanced the trade of Binh Duong's
products such as wood, textiles, footwear, handicrafts ... and exploited
potential of South Africa in terms of wood material, cotton fiber, steel and
other materials to meet production needs of businesses in the province.
