BEGIC - Over the past years, province-based businesses spared no efforts
to take care of workers’ lives with practical incentives, especially on
the occasion of the annual Tet (Lunar New Year) festival.

Responsibility to society

Binh Duong now has a total of more than one million workers taking jobs at enterprises in and out of industrial parks, 80% of whom are immigrant ones. Towards labor and production stability, province-based enterprises have tried to well realize policies taking care of laborers’ lives. During the 2016 Tet festival, most of them have carried out Tet bonus policies for laborers. Although still facing difficulties in production and business, they affirmed that this year’s Tet bonus levels are not less than the previous year.

From many years, along with many other incentive policies, giving Tet bonuses for laborers is seen as a major policy of Binh Duong Garment Joint Stock Company in Thuan An town. The 2016 Tet bonus at the company is about one month’s salary, equivalent VND7mln-VND8mln per person, 20% higher than the previous year.

Together with Tet bonuses, province-based enterprises have actively created advantageous conditions for laborers to enjoy Tet with such significant activities as organizing art performances, visiting and presenting gifts to workers with difficult circumstances, taking workers home for Tet…All are good signs, showing that enterprises are acutely awareness of the role of laborers.

Nguyen Thanh Hai, President of American Standard Company’s Trade Union said that the company will pay Tet bonuses to 530 employees at an average rate of one-month salary. The company’s Trade Union will also organize a sports festival, a year-end party, and presented gifts worth VND200,000 each to all workers. In addition, the company will consider and suggest higher Trade Unions to support bus tickets for workers with extremely difficult circumstances to return home for Tet.

Mutual benefits

Possibly speaking, the role of laborers has always associated with the effectiveness of enterprises and society. Upholding their role will create a premise for enterprises’ evolution. Realizing this, province-based enterprises have spared no efforts to pay attention to laborers’ lives, step by step set up practical policies in association with laborers’ legitimate needs. This is also a main element for enterprises to reach stable labor relations towards sustainable development.

Along with the business community, the province has also attached special importance to taking care of laborers on the occasion of Tet. It is expected that the province this Tet will extract VND3.5bln from State budget to present 6,900 gifts to laborers. Provincial Labor Union will join hands with relevant units to give 5,000 free bus tickets for needy workers to return home for Tet.

According to Nguyen Phung Trung, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, taking care of the lives of laborers, especially ones living away from home is also a way for the province to express its policy on “Rolling out the red carpet to absorb talent people”. When being cared, laborers will work harder, contributing to building up a civilized and modern Binh Duong.
