BEGIC - April 9, at Binh Duong stadium, the Interdisciplinary Steering Committee of Food Safety and Hygiene and Ministry of Health combined with Binh Duong People’s Committee co-organized the launch ceremony of “The Month of Actions forFood Quality, Safety and Hygiene 2011” all over the country. Attending the ceremony were the representatives of Office of National Assembly, Office of President; the leaders of Ministries, Central Agencies, and representatives of International Organizations in Vietnam, People’s Committee of other provinces and cities. Mr. Vu Minh Sang – Permanent Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of People’s Council, Mr. Huynh Van Nhi - Vice Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee, and the leaders of departments, units and great number of people from offices of province, districts, businesses also presented.
 
 
Since the implementation of Instruction No. 08/1999/CT-TTG dated 15 April of the Prime Minister on enhancement in the quality of food safety and hygiene, there were many positive changes on food safety and hygiene, propaganda action enhancing public awareness of food safety and hygiene; management system of food safety and hygiene from central to local was improved; regular inspections help preventing and timely dealing with several violating cases. Law normative act system on food safety and hygiene has been improved to create the lawful base in the management and control of food safety and hygiene.
 
The Action Month for food quality, safety and hygiene 2011 is themed with “Production, trade and utilization of food abide by the law on food safety”, with following targets: All food factories with industrial scale production and trading are popularized with the Law on Food Safety; decrease 30% cases of collective food poisoning in comparison with the same period of 2010; complete the setting up of interdisciplinary steering committee of food safety and hygiene at all communes in April 2011.

Addressing the Launch Ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Thien Nhan suggested Ministry of Health to actively co-operate with relevant ministries, agencies, organizations in instructing the localities to enhance the popularization of the Food Safety Law to food plants, officers and public; quickly complete to set up and submit instruction documents of Food Safety Law to Government in 2011.
 
He also directed ministries, agencies, political - social organizations, people’s committees at all levels and press agencies to co-operate with Ministry of Health, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade, etc. to apply Food Safety Law effectively, ensure the food safety and hygiene in general and especially in Month of Action.
