The theme of the Action Month for Vietnamese elderly is "Joining hands to care for the health and happiness of the elderly in the Covid-19 pandemic".
Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs shall combine with other departments, agencies, associations and unions to focus on propagating to the people in general and the elderly in particular, especially the elderly in rural and ethnic minority areas to grasp and strictly implement measures in preventing and controlling Covid-19 pandemic as guided by the Ministry of Health and recommended by the World Health Organization. The propaganda at all levels, agencies and unions should clarify advantages, difficulties and challenges when our country is in the period of population aging. Facilitating and encouraging the elderly and cardes of the Elderly People's Association at all levels to actively contribute experience and intelligence to participate in building the grassroots political system, contributing to environmental protection and building new-style rural areas, civilised urban and preventing and controlling Covid-19 pandemic.
Based on specific conditions, the authorities at all levels balance a part of the budget along with social mobilization to help the helpless or lonely elderly, the elderly with extremely difficult circumstances, the elderly under current policy to improve life; purchase Health Insurance cards for the elderly who are difficult without health insurance. Continuing to promote the performance of the Scheme on establishing "Intergenerational self-help club"; develop the Fund to care for and promote the role of the elderly, the cultural, physical training and sports activities of the elderly at grassroots; ensure funding for primary health care for the elderly at the residence; funding for wishing longevity and celebrating longevity to the elderly and funding for praising and commending the elderly with outstanding achievements according to current regulations of the State, etc.
