The representative of the Provincial Statistical Office provided information on socio-economic situation data in the first 6 months of 2020. According to the report, due to the impact of Covid-19 pandemic, the socio-economic development situation of the province faced many difficulties; most of economic sectors and fields were negatively affected. However, with the timely guidance of the Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial People's Committee and determination to overcome difficulties, turn challenges into opportunities, the province has focused all resources to deploy urgent tasks and solutions in the spirit of the direction of the Government and the Prime Minister. As a result, in the first 6 months of 2020, all sectors and fields achieved growth compared to the same period in 2019, continuing to maintain socio-economic stability. Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) increased by 6.73% over the same period, Index of Industrial Production (IIP) increased by 6.4%. Total retail sales of consumer goods and services increased by 9.4%. Export turnover increased by 0.4%. Total development investment capital of the whole society increased by 9.8%. Attracting foreign investment reached USD 557 million. Total state budget revenue decreased by 6.1%, of which, domestic revenue increased by 4% over the same period; revenue from export and import sector decreased by 3% over the same period. Creating new jobs for 17,850 employees.
The publication of 6-month and annual socio-economic statistics is conducted by the Provincial Statistical Office in accordance with regulations, helping to provide timely information in service of the province's direction and administration. Thereby creating consistency in the assessment and evaluation of the provincial socio-economic situation in the first 6 months of 2020; serving the Provincial People's Committee report and preparing for the upcoming provincial People's Council meeting.
