The 7th Congress of the Provincial Association for the Support of the Handicapped, Orphans and Poor Patients, 2022-2027 tenure

​PORTAL - On the morning of May 17, at Binh Duong Convention and Exhibition Center, the Provincial Association for the Support of the Handicapped, Orphans and Poor Patients (ASHOPP) held the 7th Congress for the 2022-2027 tenure.

​Attending were Mr. Nguyen Van Loc - Member of Provincial Standing Party Committee, Head of Commission for Mass Mobilization of Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of Provincial Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front; Ms. Nguyen Truong Nhat Phuong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council.

In the 2016-2021 tenure, the Fundraising activities of the Association and the targets set by the Congress were achieved and exceeded. The Handicapped, Orphans and Poor Patients (HOPP) benefit from the Association's programs increasing in quantity and quality. The activities of sponsoring HOPP are practical, contributing to the local social welfare work. Specifically, the Association at all levels has mobilized the Association's fund to reach more than 42.3 billion VND. From the mobilization fund, the Association has implemented support programs for 72,639 turns of HOPP in difficult circumstances, supported to build and repair 137 houses of love; awarded 7,706 scholarships; provided one-time medical assistance for 104 people; supported vocational training, created jobs for 115 handicapped people, the poor, the near-poor; provided health check-up and medicine for 5,643 people with the amount of 724 million VND, etc.

In the 2022-2027 tenure, the Association sets out key tasks: Implementing the Project on assisting the handicapped in the 2021 – 2030 period; participating in the implementation of plans and international conventions on health, vocational training, job creation, livelihood support, legal aid, cultural and sports activities for the handicapped. At the same time, building, consolidating and developing the Association's organization, improving the capacity of officials doing the Association's work; striving to mobilize the Association's fund to reach 25 billion VND; maintaining and developing programs of medical assistance, transportation assistance, living improvement assistance, livelihood assistance, poverty reduction, etc.

The Congress elected the 7th Executive Committee, 2022-2027 tenure, including 25 members; Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Oanh was elected to hold the position of Chairwoman of the Provincial ASHOPP.

Speaking to direct the Congress, Mr. Nguyen Van Loc highly appreciated the efforts, solidarity, creativity and dynamism of the Provincial ASHOPP in the past tenure. Despite the extremely difficult economic and social situation due to natural disasters and pandemic, the Association still mobilized resources to organize many programs and projects to support and assist tens of thousands of people. Programs initiated, advised and organized by the Association have actively contributed together with the province to protect, assist, care for and step by step realize the rights of HOPP, contributing to ensuring social security and fairness, for the common progress of society, for the sustainable development of the homeland of Binh Duong, so that no one is left behind.

In the new tenure, he suggested that the Association continue to promote the propaganda of undertakings, guidelines, policies and laws of the Party and State; contribute to change the perception of society, at all levels, in branches and of HOPP themselves. At the same time, focusing on promoting socialization by innovating the content and form, increasing the effectiveness of social mobilization more so that together with the state budget, provide better support for the HOPP and other disadvantaged subjects. Paying more attention to the construction, consolidation and development of Associations and members for the benefit of HOPP, etc.

On this occasion, he called on units, enterprises and benefactors to continue promoting the tradition of "Solidarity and mutual help", "The leaves protect tattered ones", side by side with the Association to actively participate, respond to calls, movements and activities of the Association to ensure rights, support and create conditions for people with difficult circumstances in the province.

He also suggested that the Party committees, authorities, Fatherland Front and mass organizations in the province pay more attention and well implement the policies and laws that have been issued for the Handicapped and Orphans; create conditions for the Association and its member associations to operate more and more effectively.

On this occasion, the Association's Central Committee awarded the Medals "For the cause of supporting the Vietnamese Handicapped and Orphans" to 45 individuals and awarded the Certificates of Merit to 20 collectives and 05 individuals; the Provincial People's Committee (PPC) also awarded Certificates of Merit to 07 collectives and 08 individuals.

The Congress also launched the Youth Volunteer Team to support the HOPP in Binh Duong province. In addition, organizations, units, enterprises and benefactors have also donated resources for the Association's activities in 2022. From the support resources, the Provincial ASHOPP donated 07 computers to orphans and children of the handicapped to support them to have more learning conditions; donated 06 wheelchairs and 02 shakers for the handicapped in the province.
